EPSO-TOP bitter salts

Am looking at options for soya . I know a lot use it on cereals do you rate it as our agronomist is not a fan of most likely wants to sell more expensive stuff . It is cheap source of folia sulphur and mag.
Opinions on it would be appreciated .

I've a ibc of manganese sulphate, was 60 something p per litre. Using it instead at 2l/ha.

Depends how your sprayer is for incorporating powders, I've used it for the last 2 years and happy with it, and it's much cheaper than liquid alternatives

No issues here, mixes as fast as you can tip it into induction hopper. Think you might be right re agro preference to products with more mark up or maybe I’m just an old sceptic

I buy manganese sulphate in ibc’s and bittersaltz by the ton/pallet. The only thing to be aware of is to leave the tank agitating if you have put a lot ie 200kg of bittersaltz in and then have a 15 minute drive to a field.

Epso Top is the best value for money if you don't mind the hassle of tipping lots of bags in the hopper. Go for it & curse the agronomist for recommending something more expensive!

I'm a lazy bugger so use Mag sulphate in ibcs but I'm doing 6000 litre loads of 2-6 way mixes and can't drop bags in the hopper fast enough.

We pre-mix bittersaltz in a fertiliser mixing tank, and draw the sprayer from it.
Slit 20 bags (500 kg) into the grain bucket and tip it in to 13,000L of water.

We usually apply 4kg/ha at t2 and t3, mixes easily enough just tip a bag in the hopper and by the time I’ve opened the next bag it’s gone.
As someone has said though be careful leaving it in the tank without the agitation on for a lengthy time, a neighbour blocked there sprayer up after it settled in the bottom! Never had any problems myself though.

I never used to have problems with previous sprayers but it’s a right PITA with an Amazone UF1801
Very easy to block up the main filter.
Anyone using an Amazone UF with Espo-top who can give me any tips?

Take a bit longer to tip the product into the hopper with a mostly full tank? Warmer water? I've had troubles with cold bore water before. The first lot out of the black tank was fine but the colder stuff replacing it caused no end of blockage troubles.

I did the same with my little 1000l sprayer and combi top, complete blocked the main filter. I now pre mix it in a bucket with warm water from the dairy and an electric drill+ paint mixer. Bit of a pain but saves ££

Trouble is the the induction hopper feed right into the bottom of the tank and the product gets sucked straight into suction filter where it blocks.
To prevent blockage I have to add really slow and change between fill and spray recirculating after every bag. Slows up the filling considerably.

I've had the same problem with Epso Top and amazone sprayer, first season using both! I've decided next time I try some I'm going to wait till there is more water in the sprayer and have it circulating from the tank rather than drawing clean water as I think some of the product sits in the sump of the tank not getting swirled around properly when filling. Whether or not it'll work I'll have to let you know

I just have my agitation turned right up and literally tip it in as fast as I like, water jets in induction bowl going pretty hard as well.

I don't know what the plumbing is like on an Amazone, but can you fit a pipe to the hopper outlet feed elsewhere in the tank to give it a chance to dissipate? Some have flexi pipes that you can hang over a baffle to redirect the flow.
