Erectors Required

Me, too! I have purchased a 2nd hand grain silo to use for storage, but I have no idea where to search for someone who will erect it, or even any idea how much I should expect to pay. It measures around 18' diameter and around 24' high. (I'm not a farmer, btw!) I'm in the SouthEast (Essex).
Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Hello! Well, having paid someone to put together the roof and one ring, I'm now stuck, as I can't find a telehandler... or at least not one I can afford! Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Dookist.

Hi again,
Don’t quite follow why the roof has been put on 1 ring rather then assemble all the rings and then roof it? Am I missing something.
Telehandler would be £350 week for 14 m machine plus del/collect.

Morning Tjzservices,
have you actually erected a similar type bin, this is the correct and only way, either by Jacking which is time consuming, or by Lifting with Telehandler, quicker and cheaper,
If you can erect a circular bin then put the roof on, your a better man than I,

Hello buddy,
Haven’t done many circular silos admittedly, the 2 we have done we did sides and then lifted roof on in 1 piece. Not being a grain speciallist, I went about it in an order that made sense to me. Don’t mean to cause offence, was just asking a question.

No offence taken,
I normally dismantle and export or sell if very good condition in the Uk,
Jacking is normal procedure with new bins, allowing work at ground level, but second hand requires quicker, cheaper method. Therefore Telehandler and lifting,
Can’t see how you build one, from bottom ring up, then add roof, as all the roof wants to do is collapse in on its self,

The roof is (I would imagine) the hardest bit to put together, especially as, being 2nd hand, this one was a bit bent, so the guys doing it spent 2 days, just to fit it to the ring... But it should go up quickly now with a telehandler... I've been reliably informed that silos go up roof first... They jack them up in USA...seems all wrong, but it's not!

Bolted roof up on floor and lifted in 1 piece.
All a few years ago now and I remember it being quite the pain to the pooper!!! Wish I’d had so TFF advice then!!!

What's also a pain is I have paid these guys nearly £2k... then I couldn't find an affordable telehandler to finish it off, so I currently have a lo-rise silo... duh!

Many thanks for all your replies... fantastic site & one I'm sure I will return to again...
I wouldn't know... just that there are a lot of nuts & bolts and they were quite expensive!
The other thing is that there are some strange bits... about 2ft square... 4 of them & no idea what they are...also some angled steel lengths which, at a guess, might be for strength... 2 long 4 short...
I have a lot to learn!
