Establishing catch crops

Sorry if this has been covered before and i've missed the thread...

We're growing some catch crop this year to meet EFA, behind winter barley (straw is being baled if it makes any difference). The mix is 95% oil radish and 5% black oats
We were thinking for establishing it:
One pass with the short disc
Drill with weaving tine drill approx 25mm deep
Cambridge roll

Looking to drill as soon as the straw is cleared, next couple of weeks. Going off the forecast there should be some moisture in the soil

Is this the right sort of approach? Is there a better way to do it?

All thoughts and ideas welcome!
Cheers

Just spin on small seeds with a slug pelleter here and light disc and roll and put the oats on with fert spinner . You can save a fair bit by using spring oats instead of black oats and just buy straight seed for others in the mix and make your own mix

Where are you buying your straights from please if you mind me asking

are you going in front of beet ,seems better drilled , did a field that has been green top spuds and used ,game strip drill only has 7 coulters on and rest blocked off for game strips .so opened them all up so 7 sown rest just dribbled on top and following harrow covered seed then rolled ,the 7 rows sown far better than broadcast , just use normal oats ,or drive faster with combine or up fan a bit and sow some light barley with combine ,
14 kg contra oil raddish drilled properly will give you plenty cover And cople kg mustard , look at difference where Coulter has sown itand where old bar packer has pressed it in then rolled

Yes it’ll be ahead of beet, that’s what I was wondering really, obviously broadcasting is cheaper and quicker and I’m not looking to put lots of effort into getting it established, but I’d rather drill it and get a half tidy crop than broadcast and not get much growing if it will make a good bit of difference. Fair contrast between those photos!
