They say it's less stress, so do they never separate the mum and calf?https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/theethicaldairy
Whats the thoughts.?
I've drunk my own raw milk for my whole 43 years and never had a problem. My kids drink it too, but I would never dream of retailing raw milk for those reasons that you've statedI think this raw milk craze will end in tears and id bet its children that end up suffering most.
I assumed all dairy farmers consumed their own milk. I grew up with it, and still miss it. Shop stuff is OK, but it's just not fresh. I used to make sure I filled the milk jug when dad was milking so I could take it out of the filter housing before the plate cooler. Don’t know. You’d have to ask an American. Fairly sure they have pretty strict vaccine protocols to control Brucellosis but that’s only if you want to transport into bangs free states. No clue if it’s required to produce raw milk.Do they have a Tb problem in America ?
We all know cows. The reason this never worked originally even with the shiney new set up was cows/calves knew what was happening. So approaching milking time every calf would go and have a massive belly full or come milking time the cow wouldn’t let milk down cos saving it for calf. They say it's less stress, so do they never separate the mum and calf?
I don't believe that! When they finally do separate them, it will be hell up for weeks, both for the calf and mother. Not just 24 hours of stress or sometimes none at all, especially for the calf, when they are separated straight away.
And this will not satisfy the vegans
Back on topic please. An article from the local paper. The farm has been organic for some years. The ice cream business and visitor centre is very busy so the milk gets lots of added value. The tenancy must be very long-term going by the amount of buildings in the past 20 years so not sure why the bank is not doing the cash flow cover.

We are a first world country, of course we don’t have a TB problem....

Ive unliked it cos its not likeable , its a growing fashion here , ticking time bomb thats growing ,, tick tock and it will affect the whole industry , one dead child the BBC will slaughter dairy farmers. At least one kid died and a few others were very close to it due to some hippy parents going out of their way to buy raw milk here in Aus. Was a few years back now.
Raw milk is illegal for human consumption here but people get around it with a wink wink and selling it as bath milk.Ive unliked it cos its not likeable , its a growing fashion here , ticking time bomb thats growing ,, tick tock and it will affect the whole industry , one dead child the BBC will slaughter dairy farmers.
I thought outer space was like ...lawless sort of place ?Raw milk is illegal for human consumption here but people get around it with a wink wink and selling it as bath milk.
Yes, they are no stranger to crowd funding either. Currently trying to raise £3,000 so they can make butter, which I think sums up the problem. It seems like easy money for some so they ask for more than really needed.also see 'calf at foot dairy' somerleyton
Maybe they could start the cull at DEFRA HQ?
TB is a public health issue, their lack of action is absolutely dispicable IMHO
but that's another thread
They could stop sitting on their hands about vector control, for one thing...It's banned in law. What more could DEFRA do? If folks see it being sold improperly, they should report to Environmental Health.
