System not making money so crowd funding to show other farmers how not to make money..........
Do they think we need showing?
Either at the top of their game and taking the pee or going down and prolonging the agony is my assumption, I FIND CROWD FUNDING for personal gain offensive that`s what banks or for, crowd funding should be reserved for charitable things.

Crowd funding seems to be a way in 50% of cases of coaxing money out of gulable idiots. If people want to pay £2000 for the ‘greater good’ and to have some mouldy cheese named after them then that’s upto them. The ethical dairy people aren’t forcing them to give them money and it’s better it goes to someone like them than some corrupt charity like the RSPCA etc.

Yes, they are no stranger to crowd funding either. Currently trying to raise £3,000 so they can make butter, which I think sums up the problem. It seems like easy money for some so they ask for more than really needed.
I bet it pleases @JP1 's friends no end.............

i'd bet they are the friends in question as there can't be many like that around.....they'd be a bit different to farmer in op though.....asking for some money to help buy a butterchurn is in my view ok......trying to get £10's of k for a business thats already got a good grant seems a bit sharp

No im fairly certain @JP1s friend is another calf at foot type dairy. There are a few more around than you'd think.

I know a man doing it with montys, i dont know how much milk he gets but his calves are super.
We thought about doing it but had a lot of advice strongly against it. Quite like the idea of having a nurse cow but wont have enough calves to make it worth while just yet. Not one of our customers has asked about leaving the calves on, in fact the only question we've had about the calves is will we be doing veal because they want some.
