UK having a nuclear deterrent ensures we are America's bitch and they will always control who we could deploy it against. The UK should have a modern well equipped armed forces that is not constantly being cut to pieces by the government.

So the difference vs the other 'SoS'

As for the latter - I fully agree, and is something I have stated time and again. Along with the NHS, Fire and Police. This could be aided if Benefits and Payment Schemes were cut dramatically, and the monies then distributed to the relevant areas.

British made denby cups, lol.
We are furnishing a new flat and it's very hard to do do with all uk made stuff, especially electrical goods. UK based firms need to be far more proactive on marketing, just like food processors, there is a huge marketing opportunity that all these clever fudgeers cant seem to see.
Help the UK bounce back from covid by buying British etc etc, big union Jacks and made/grown/reared in Britian stamped on the front.

But, but, but, ... aren’t the Europeans at a terrible disadvantage. Don’t they need you lot more than you need them?? Surely they will brick themselves any day now! Hang in there! 😏

Yeah, its Ok Barnier is reading the final chapter of the novel this weekend. When he gets to the punchline on last page he will realise why the UK had been holding out and succumb straight away. Just a question of time. Surely you recall when Man U beat ze Germans in 1999. Extra time and all that. Plenty time yet:);)

I find the nuke talk hilarious...

In case you havent noticed...what you need is a good virus in your back pocket for a rainy day...

Nukes are old news.... highly ineffective.

A virus and fiscal clout are the weapons of choice...EU China and USA have....most others don't so u need to be on a team.

Ant...

If boris had half a brain hed be in oz working on funding with offtake agreements for alot of gold and rare earth metal mines that need developing, battery metals....a free trade agreement and some provisions for critical skills visas etc...

Also food to the ME should be a high priority until the oil job caves...

I dont think the uk is sustainable is its current form, its going to need to make some big calls in my view.

Ant...

The sooner we have global free trade the better. Tariffs and sanctions are purely political. The lowest form of punishment of the proletariat by the ruling elites.
I saw the effect of sanctions in Iran. No brake shoes, more accidents more hatred of the West. Pointless and cruel. Counterproductive.

I think you are wishing for something that will never happen, unless the EU takes over the world. :D

Why the issue with state aid so

Why the issue with state aid so

The BIG issue with state aid, (which by the way is part and parcel of all trade agreements to prevent one side using it to unfair advantage,) in this case is to do with NI.
Since NI, will remain within the customs union, and UK mainland won’t, the EU wants to prevent major mainland companies from using NI to get a de facto footprint within the customs union. EU wants to put a constraint on UK government from using state aid both financial and regulatory, to prevent abuse of this possible strategy.
NI is actually going to be in a great economics position going forward, assuming they raise their eyes, to directly servicing the EU market. They should be able to attract business from mainland state aid or no state aid.
