EU vaccine role out.

The EU has fudged this completely up, OR, AZ are in breach of contract. Even if AZ are in breach, it’s a major embarrassment to the EU. That’s for sure.

Having said all that, I heard something on radio today, saying that the UK plant which is up and running with production is receiving parts of the final solution from the plants in the EU. That sort of undermines the claims from the company, that they have early days teething problems in Belgium to fix, before meeting the EU volume agreements.

Now I see the German government says the AZ vaccine shouldn’t be given to over 65’s 🤨🤨.
Does that mean that those over 65 already given the vaccine, may not be sufficiently protected?
How many in the UK fall into that bracket, or were they all given the Pfizer version?

As above, Germany says lack of data means they're not recommending it for over 65s, so where if it shows lack of efficacy does this leave the UK?
Is the UK doing any follow up tests to see if a good level of immune response is achieved in the elderly?
Or is it just headline grabbing, we've jabbed 5 million once!
I really hope not , but it could just happen that Boris has grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory!
The UK population is the trial.
The AZ trial data, over 65 group only had 1 case out 341 in treatment group 1 case out 319 in the control group. So the data for that cohort isn't worth anything. Don't think it affects the safety, but could put a question mark over the efficacy in the elderly, particularly when it was only on 60-70% level of protection, even in under 65's in the first place. Still, a lot better than not having it. :scratchhead:

Send in the aircraft carriers. Any pissing about, get the special forces in. There would be massive popular support for this. Eu couldn't organise a military response if their lives depended on it. No point having the gear if you won't use it to protect UK lives from harmful foreign actions.

They'll try and discredit a rival company with their products that can not even be handled conventionally???

Maybe wrong (if I am someone sure to say) but thought Germany retracted the 8% efficacy statement, stating that they got confused.

The statement should have read, the results of the trial showed only 8% was carried out on the over 65s.
Yes, we've covered this.
But there is no trial data in efficacy for over 65s for the AZ .
The uk is the trial! Hence my question of the uk doing any follow up to see if an exceptable level of immune response has been triggered in the over 65s.
No point jabbing them if its not working!
Use the Pfizer jab that has data for over 65s and works in that age group.

Question.
Does it have fewer side effects in over 65s because it is not causing an effective immune response?
BBC report
Meanwhile, Paul Hunter, professor of Medicine at the University of East Anglia, told BBC News that the elderly should not worry about receiving the jab: "We do know that it is safe in people over 65. They have much fewer side effects than younger people and it almost certainly provides substantial benefits in terms of preventing severe disease and reduce the chances of going into hospital."

Does anyone know if they are follow up testing for immune response?
And does this phrase
and it almost certainly
mean they know or they think?
