Euphemisms

Didnt you know it's only only the British , sorry the English that have ever done anything that could be considered violent racist or wrong and we are still at it with ideas of regaining our empire
Can you name one british politician or citizen for that matter that has said we should rebuild our empire or are superior to any other nation, there may be plenty that claim thats what others particularly Brexit supporters want but no one has said it
So ignore the question by diversion, feel free to answer the question
You are like good old jp post something you cant back up so just try and distract, sorry but that fools no one, just answer the question
Which politicians have said they want a return to the british empire ?
I have read and re read this thread and the only person I can find who has mentioned regaining the British empire is yourself. So why are you pushing for others to answer your question re.politicians or citizens who want to rebuild the British empire. I have been in private conversation with many citizens who have said they would like to rebuild the British empire.

I would definitely like to rebuild the British Empire, but I think the options are now rather limited. Re-taking North America and Australia would be much, much harder this time, India too. We could probably get a few bits of Africa back though, but best not really.

Better just to have a much closer relationship with them than other countries; and that's pretty easy due to the historical, linguistic and cultural ties we have. :)

(That written, I think we'd be well advised to keep hold of the odd bits and pieces we still have though. (y))

My misunderstanding, I think... I presumed that you meant there was some irritation for you in trying to pin the blame solely on the Nazi Party and its members, whereas in fact a huge number of non-members did a lot of bad things too.

I agree, quite a lot of non Nazi German industrialists and bankers also took advantage in cooperating with the regime, even though behind closed doors they often despised Hitler and his party. Many did definitely see them as a useful tool that they could control to their own advantage. But as events ultimately proved, they were the ones who were being used.

With regard to the services, Hitler only really trusted the air force and U-boat arm as loyal national socialists. He subsequently put a rope around the officer class neck, particularly in the Heer by getting them to swear an oath of allegiance directly to him and not just the state. However, it's also interesting to see that some army officers transferred to the Waffen SS not for any ideological reasons but simply because promotion opportunities were better..

It's a bit like saying Tory Britain declared war on Nazi Germany in 1939. When the truth is Britain and its allies fought Germany and its allies. Today we have not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. Of course other flavours of terrorists are available but truth be told lots of non Nazi Germans did lots of bad things.

I don't really like to compare religious warfare with what Hitler did. Christians and Muslims have fought with each other and between their own sects for the last 1500 years. I hate to say it, but you can see more common factors between Trumpism and Nazism. Which IMO certainly doesn't mean to say everyone who voted for Trump is a raving white supremacist misogynist, it means he sold them the prospect of some sort of future. This is pretty much what the Nazis did as the German economy started to fail big time due to the great depression. Both these leaders were in the right place at the right time to capitalise on the fear and anxiety of the blue collar workers.

So the dilemma is; if Wall Street hadn't crashed Hitler would probably never have gained power and WW2 would never have happened. The fact it did and Germany moved to become a militarist state was also to become a key component in the American recovery as well. :scratchhead:

Well Godwin's Law very quickly became established in this thread!

Back to the original:
'Died' in place of 'Committed suicide'
"Passed" is the new euphemism for anything/one dead.
Anything that happened between 1932-45 is always now attributed to a breed called Nazi's never Germans.
The BBC have mainly insisted on calling Germany " Nazi Germany " for that era....but no, 'fraid it was just Germany.
Much like how "Trump's America" or "The Trump administration" is the journalist's shorthand for 'I don't agree with this, and can't specifically blame it on Trump, but I'll have a damned good go!'
Global warming instead of ” lack of dredging and building on floodplains”
'Global warming' has been replaced by 'climate change'
You're out of date already on that one! It's "Climate Emergency/ Catastrophe" now.

''Global warming and world catastrophe'' replaced by ''Rising temperatures and higher rainfall will accelerate the regeneration and spread of grasses, shrubs and trees: and nature will right itself''.
