Didnt you know it's only only the British , sorry the English that have ever done anything that could be considered violent racist or wrong and we are still at it with ideas of regaining our empire
Imperialist’s cannot view the world objectively. Even as the Soviet army surrounded Berlin Hitler believed the third German empire could be created by him!!

Can you name one british politician or citizen for that matter that has said we should rebuild our empire or are superior to any other nation, there may be plenty that claim thats what others particularly Brexit supporters want but no one has said it

Was that the Soviet Army of the Soviet Empire, you know, the former USSR? (maybe CCCP to you...)
Well an empire isn’t an army so I guess it was the armed forces of the Soviet Union. The exact name doesn’t really matter. I wonder what the millions who served in it thought? Soviet propagandists used the term “Red Army”, whether that’s how the rank and file thought of themselves we will never know.

An interesting point. I've read accounts given by Soviet soldiers - who served during WW2 - and they mostly seemed pretty 'patriotic' toward the Soviet Union, as opposed to one of its republics. Zip forward forty years and, when they were writing their accounts, their love for the USSR had gone and they were simply Russian, Kazak etc..

Unpatriotic soldiers didn’t last long in Stalin and Zhukov’s organisation.

You really do set yourself up as a tw*t of note sometimes. Nothing in either my or @Muck Spreader's posts refer to the current population of Germany. What we referred to is the historical revisionism that is being touted a lot, that being to specifically avoid the historical fact that Germany (that's the country of the Germans) was the principal national belligerent in Europe during the Second World War, not its Nazi Party. (y)

I suppose the angle I was coming from, is that you cannot brand every single German from that era as a Nazi and it's important to maintain the definition "Nazi" for the people and organisations who truly deserve it.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but 80 years ago we were at war with Germany. Populated by...Germans. Whilst the top brass might have been " Nazi ", the rank and file were happy to work in munitions factories etc, etc and help the cause of the Third Reich......
The BBC have mainly insisted on calling Germany " Nazi Germany " for that era....but no, 'fraid it was just Germany. Stop trying to re write history.

Anyhoo, lots of interesting programs on TV ATM exploring the possibility that Adolf fled Germany in 1945 and spent retirement in Argentina plotting his comeback. I'm convinced. But I am gullible.
What do others think ?

Either you have misunderstood my post or I didn't explain my meaning sufficiently well, or maybe both...
The accounts I read were written by men who had served as Soviet soldiers in WW2, but the writing was done after the USSR has broken up; that being so, they probably weren't that concerned then about being 'purged'.

I suppose the angle I was coming from, is that you cannot brand every single German from that era as a Nazi and it's important to maintain the definition "Nazi" for the people and organisations who truly deserve it.
My misunderstanding, I think... I presumed that you meant there was some irritation for you in trying to pin the blame solely on the Nazi Party and its members, whereas in fact a huge number of non-members did a lot of bad things too.

You have to go back to The Treaty of Versailles and 1920s Germany to get the full picture. The first World War wasnt caused by "rank and file" Germans, but none other than inbred nutcase grandchildren of our Queen Victoria. The older Germans are acutely aware of their shameful history, but they cant live like that forever. There were a few "Schindlers" around, but not many were in a position to do anything useful without getting shot or hung themselves.Indeed, any ordinary Germans that refused to work in munitions or other war effort work were just carted off with the Jews,as well as those that sheltered them.

A bit simplistic Arch duke Franz Ferdinand was not a descendant of Victoria ( I think ) . Howver the war was probably prceipitated by the aminosity between Russia and Germany. Technically the Tsar Nicholas was in charge in Russia, but in reality was not, however Kaiser Wilhelm was again technically in charge in Germany
