EVENT: [Nov 28, 2018] Croptec 2018 (Peterborough)

The CropTec Show 2018 – helping farmers towards a profitable future

UK farmers looking for ways to improve their business prospects in the face of rising political and economic pressure have an excellent opportunity to listen to and quiz some of the best minds in the agricultural sector when The CropTec Show returns to Peterborough at the end of November.

CropTec has established itself as the business-to-business knowledge exchange event where farmers, agronomists, business advisers, suppliers and scientists meet to challenge and discuss the best ways forward to remain profitable.

Brexit and the UK government’s current environmental focus on the future of farming are two key factors adding to the uncertainty surrounding agriculture, making a visit to this year’s event more worthwhile than ever.

Elisabeth Mork-Eidem, group events director of AgriBriefing, which owns The CropTec Show, said: “Through its unique combination of exhibitor stands, seminars and knowledge hubs, The CropTec Show provides an unmissable insight into new technology, cutting edge agronomy and best business practices.

“The event provides an excellent platform for farmers and their advisers to network with some of the best minds in the industry in an informal atmosphere, and to pick up invaluable practical advice to help improve farm business prospects.”

More than 170 companies, covering a wide range of new technology, up-to-date agronomy and best business practice, are expected to fill the trade stand exhibition.

The CropTec Show’s highly informative technical seminar programme, also returns, which covers four key areas: crop establishment; crop nutrition; crop protection and crop breeding.

Specialist knowledge hubs – short presentations delivering key take-away messages – covering black-grass, biosolutions, cereal disease, oilseed rape management and the spraying technology also feature.

The CropTec Show’s popular sprayer demo area returns, where visitors can drive some of the most advanced sprayers in the market. The soil compaction area, featuring Michelin, is back again for 2018, demonstrating the effects compaction has below ground level and how it can be minimised.

Stephen Howe, The CropTec Show’s development director, said: “After the UK leaves the EU our industry will move away from the CAP and its system of financial support.

“UK farmers also face new constraints on production in order to meet DEFRA’s key targets for increasing biodiversity, improving soil health and improving water and air quality, outlined in its 25 Year Environment Plan.

“Together, the seminars and hubs will help delegates tackle these challenges and provide the ideal backdrop for more detailed discussion throughout the day on the technical stands and refreshment areas as delegates seek the latest solutions to increasing yield, improving efficiency and reducing those all-important unit costs of production.”

Corteva Agriscience is headline sponsor for The CropTec Show in 2018. “Corteva Agriscience, the agriculture division of DowDuPont, is leading the way with new product introductions over the coming years,” said Adrian Gough, Corteva’s UK and Ireland leader.

“As a company committed to deliver new solutions and choice for farmers, we are delighted to be associated with The CropTec Show, an event which supports innovation, technology and knowledge transfer.

“We look forward to the event, which has established itself as a key date in the arable sector’s diary, thanks to its mix of seminars and knowledge hubs, featuring industry-leading speakers, and its line-up of cutting-edge technical and business exhibitors to update farmers, agronomists and professional operators on the latest developments in the crop sector.”

The CropTec Show 2018 takes place on 28th and 29th November at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, between 08:30-16:30.

The event is free to attend, provided tickets are booked in advance.

Visitors to The CropTec Show will be able to collect BASIS and NRoSO points on both days of the event.
