Much better for mature Cows to be out with a belly full of not very good quality feed.

Still got about 50 dry cows out and some long keeping stores. Stores are going round some old pasture then in about a week will be going into some overseeded grass which hasn’t been grazed since September so a good bit of feed there.
Cows are on a rotation so will keep them moving for as long as possible. A lot cheaper having them out.

Ours are still out, last year and most years recently they have been in from the sale onwards (around 10th October). We were going to fetch them in judging by the forecast early this week but the tractor was in bits so we couldn't get them in, turns out a good thing out was as after the Friday forecast for rain we are meant to dry up again so hopefully they will be out a good couple of weeks still.

Ours will be in at the weekend, we’re TB testing next week which is forcing the issue slightly, however mid-November is usual for us. Have tried keeping them out into December but lost too much condition on the cows.
Still plenty of milk cows going out during the day locally.

Moved 50 cows next to forage crop yesterday, I set up a e fence today and let them in. They came rushing in, got stuck in and by the time I got back down to farm and looked back up to the field they were back out an grazing grass again! They can't have eaten it all so must prefer the grass!
