Tried EBay a couple of times.. the trouble is it’s a specialist thing...can anyone even get planning for Turbines now the Government & councils don’t really back them much now

John Walton at Walton wind would probably buy your turbine. He specialises in servicing and repairing evocco windmills, and I’m sure he said he had bought a few to break for spares...

Yes Courier..the blade pitch bearings weren’t originally beefed up enough so they used to stick and could cause it to overspeed. But there are quiet afew guys out there that have upgraded the bearings. We have two running in our area still and they seem to keep them going. If you can get hold of a hydraulic ram and power pack u can just fold it down and service...there isn’t a massive amount to it really

Don’t think he was involved as such. Pretty sure his mate had an evoco which broke down (as they do) - John looked at it and came up with a way to get it sorted. He got our one going a few years ago and has been maintaining it since...

There was a guy that came to ours from Brighouse way...he had one and was also an engineer so he had decided to go round maintaining them...How are you going on with yours??We always said they would have been a decent Turbine if Evoco had spent about another 12 months on them before they started selling them

Not too bad now I suppose. It was out of action for a while with failed root bearings and pitch actuators. Both of these have now been changed for new designs either by John or the folk that were looking after it before him - it works away now but as a rule any income it makes needs to be spent on keeping it running.
What made you take your one down?

We wanted to keep it as it was on the 32p/kw FIT rate and it used to produce about 20k Kws per annum.Wanted to put a couple more up but after talks with planners they would only give us the replace the Evoco for a 100kw option to go bigger so ended up going for that.

But surely keeping the 10K turbine On 32p FITs will buy you far more power than erecting a 100K new one.

No,the 100kw produces between 260k kws and 280k kws per annum and is on 23p/kw inc export
As opposed to 20k kws per annum on 32p/kw..The smaller ones at right enough but the bigger ones can stand these storms abit better

We got the site pre accredited in 2015 and installed in 2016..so we were one of the last to get on the FIT before it dropped to silly low rates and then it ended completely in 2019 I think

That’s probably a good idea...I suppose Ofgem probably don’t know it’s exact location. The biggest hurdle is getting planning unfortunately it seems the
government & councils have turned their backs on onshore wind. But I suppose you don’t know until u try!
