Ewe Lambs Low on Milk

Started lambing the ewe lambs, they are good mothers however low on milk. Any tips for getting them going?

I suppose plenty of fresh spring grass would be hard bet. Plus maybe some high soya concentrate ration. We use a ration here 25%soya 50% barley 5% minerals/molasses 10%oats 10% beetpulp.

Works really well but no better than spring grass

This is something I have never had a problem with. What ever a ewe lamb has in problems it always has a lovely bag under it.

Feed them well after lambing (preferably on fresh grass, but may be short of that this year?).

Would you rather have big, dead lambs and knocked about ewe lambs, or a bit less milk? It’s a fine balance in ewe lambs ime.

Yes for sure, a wee living one is better than a big dead one for sure.

Get a mineral drench into them must be low in something

youll have to creep feed the lambs. Feed the ewes....what ever way its going to cost. Did you feed them pre lambing - this year we seem to have opposite problem. We also bolused the ewes very late.
