Ewe rejecting lamb

I've just brought in a ewe that has rejected one of her lambs after a day or two. I've put her in the stocks but does anyone ever keep records on this and do they reoffend the next year?
It's a ram lamb so wondering if it got a bit lost after being ringed.
Just wondering if I should put her in the cull group or give her another chance next year.

Ah ok.

Definitely her lamb. Marked up and rung. Will record it. She's a smart looking ewe, so will give her another chance....

You mean yes they reoffend?

Yes they do!

I found a wilt lamb in the middle of a 25 ac field a few days ago, mum and twin were about 200m away, put lamb back with them, but no she didn't want it, oh well I thought, one of those things the lamb must have wandered off.

Loaded her up, back up the yard, in the stocks, at this point starting to think I recognise this ewe so scan her tag, Check comments to find the following...

"Cull the fudging b!**H rejected one twin":facepalm:

I think that mothering ability has a genetic and a learnt component ---so a bad mum's lambs have an increased chance of being bad mums in their own right

Mantra ----Don't look for an excuse to keep a ewe ---look for a reason to cull (y)
No, It's highly heritable in my experience.
All my lambs are sold anyway but I wouldn't keep lambs from a ewe that I've had to cull for anything other than old age
I don't know much about sheep, but with cow's anything that even looks at me wrong gets bred to beef, plenty of hassle without breeding more culls
