I have had my 2nd ewe push every thing out this morning about 3 weeks off lambing. Knacker man to phone shortly ☹️
With what’s going on in Ukraine it seems minuscule

Had a thin, single carrying (scanned) ewe prolapsed this morning. She's a TexX ewe due to lamb in the first 2 weeks of March, carrying a Beltex lamb. She's on ok grass, getting no concs/buckets or any other feed.

Any of the experts like to explain this one to me because it's only big/fat multiple carrying ewes which prolapse, apparently 🤷🏻‍♂️
Some sort of abortion 'agent ' ?
not enough Calcium made available for her to keep correct muscle and ligament tone ?

There's always one of everything and that one is going to be harder to diagnose than a run of them or several with similar problem.

Generally speaking .... After they've settled in lamb ewes don't need to be kept on the best keep, not getting them too fat at that point helps in more ways than one.no supplementary minerals either. Calcium in them. or clover rich swards .

2 of those ways ( more straightforward ones ? )that are relevant here it seems are not having too much fat around the abdomen in late pregnancy and poor resorption of Ca for use .... from storage in their bones, at that time. Or (but getting more complicated in diagnosis ) Ca availability is poor through a tie up from some other factor.

and assuming that their Ca in their bones has been topped up previously / replenished/maintained through the period after heavy lactation/weaning ............. etc

I’ve had about 5 doing it this season.
Some maybe over fat some maybe a touch skinny. Some in the shed some outdoor lambers. No concentrate feed. All doubles or triplets. I think it’s just one of those things. Just keep plenty of sheep because you’re always going to lose plenty to a whole myriad of different endings.
