Jury is still out with me,
Used 24%N+7.5 S
3 splits
200l/ha then twice at 265l/ha,thats on my wheats.
Typical, the first year I use it,its one of the worst possible years for scorch.
I went liquid thinking it would make life easier.:banghead::banghead::mad:.
To be fair now the crops have got over it and are very even in colour.(y)

I'd be keen to hear what new season liquid prices are. I used N30.5 10.8SO3 here this season & it gave a bit too much S according to PLANET recommendations. Next year I'll use N32 9SO3. N35 7S isn't really enough for cereals, never mind oilseed rape. Kieserite or manures might top it up so it's down to your own system.

Yara liquid prices have been the same pence/kg N as quality AN in the past. The savings or extra expense of liquid depends on lots of factors like forklifts/sheds/scorch/sprayer capacity/tramline width/tank capacity/labour/bowsers etc.

Liquid price on a par with AN before the price was pulled last week! That's for straight 37n. 35n7s is a fiver more!

this year is the first time we have scorched wheats in about 7 years of liquid use , it really wasn't too bad and was over it in a week as soon as it rained, the crop was so stressed in the drought that even the BWstar scorched the crop so I think it was unavoidable this spring

It's really not a big deal IMO unless you are daft with it

AN based mixes are worst, AN is not a nice form of N either for soil and plant health IMO so best avoided, its also expensive vs alternatives

Do you know any companies that offer just UAS as a product?
I have enquirer with yara before but they say they only do AN based liquid fert.
I can't brew my own either unfortunately!

So if uan product's are not as good what are the other options I was under the impression all bulk bought liquid off the main suppliers is the same make up?
I'm thinking home brew is the only way to get anything different and that's not an option for me .

I applied some 8% stuff last week at 950 litres/ha in the rain . Still a little bit of scorch. What's is the point in that stuff ? I was only contracting doing what I was told . My own I do 3 splits of 200ish 34/%. Seams a ridiculous high rate and lot running about is it that much cheaper?? The sheet they give me work off they were applying up to 1650l/ ha some times
Thank u

8% - sounds like straight liquid AS ? if so it would have been VERY high S ( 24 % IIRC ) and that will be where your scorch came from ?

not the norm to use a product that low in N in a liquid system

straight AS is very cheap N though if home melted, but i wouldn't dream of using it at this time of year !

My biggest issue with liquid fert is fitting it around spray timings. Ideally need a minimum of 5 days between n application and chem application which makes it tricky particually during April when lots of products are being applied.

That's a fair point and could be the biggest headache. For a start I'm only going to do it on a quarter of the spray area so should be able to juggle it.
Would you be and to go slightly later than solid each time as it's more available being in liquid form?

Keep it simple ! We use one product throughout which is a home brewed UAS solution. I don't really want to use AN on my soil and I want to apply S every time we apply N as it's easy leached

Wheats get x3 applications of 300L/ha which gets 180kgs N on plus 100Kgs So3

OSR gets x3 applications of 350kgs /ha which gets 210kgs N on plus 115/kgs So3

Same product gets used in spring oats, libseed etc in seedbed and top dressed balance

We used to use stronger solutions but find this works better for us and lower scorch risk
What he said, I use home brew N20 so10 on everything

Liquid first is best. Chems de-wax leaves opening them to scorch. I always did liquid in 2 applications one in march and one sometime before gs 32. Worked here.
