exlana ewe lambs import to ireland

Got up this morning and its been the fifth attempt to shear one flock of sheep on an outfarm. Weather man said it was all ok today and its absolutely soaking sky on the ground. Been thinking about trying exlana for a while now but the weather and the rubbish price for wool is forcing me to really re evaluate why i am bothering with it. Coincidentally i am a shearing contractor and love shearing sheep. It just pays more to shear someone elses. Is there any major hurdles to getting ewe lambs and a ram across the water to test them out in this wee wet corner of ireland?

If you get up go see Campbell tweed, he has a few thousand easy cares , only 20 mins from Ballymena ,always plenty for sale
Must go and check it out. Was born and reared about half hour from campbell. It was all horned ewes breeding mules up them parts when i left. If they are as good as they are claimed i will be heading that direction with my breeding

Well a few years ago he struggled to sell the shearlings and 2 yr olds in a sale in the local mart, maybe had 1000 there, now all sold out of the yard easily. Getting very popular here and he is at them longer than anyone and records and culls accordingly.

What are the easycare , exlana like to work with in a lowland setup ? Are they quiet sheep or are they flighty / wild ? What would you compare them to ? have texel x llyens here at the moment.

Find it is lambs who bounce out of weighed at end of race. Culled lleyn ewe last time as she would clear twin barbed wire over sheep netting without touching it. Have a half bred daughter who does just the same, she has been notched. Overall no more flighty than lleyns just better jumpers. Draw together better than lleyns so are easier to move.

Do you lamb indoors or outdoors ? Lamb indoors here at the moment and find llyens quiet, but open minded to outdoor. Would they be ok in the lambing sheds to work with ? Had a few cheviots a few years back , that would go mad in the pens if you went near em. Would trample lambs ect. They got the road as well., apologies for all the questions, what to build up a clear picture of them in my head and how they could fit in here .
