Whats the best product for lice that also covers maggots . We will be dipping in a few weeks when shorn and a bit of wool on the sheep but want cover for now as lambs are lousy. Vectrocert, Crovect, and new product Fly Off i am told is all the same product. Anybody advise a better product.

Know they do fly and lice. Lost faith in Crovect and related generic named product. Dysect i have used but did not like the fact it is strong on the skin of handler but may have to go back to it. Not tried any other product recently that covers lice

I always shower at start of July when most lambs are gone, as the withdrawal is so long,
but had bit maggots problem 3 weeks ago and used Fly Off because of the short withdrawal, has worked extremely well even on struck lambs , and are all still clean after 3 weeks

Non of the mentioned will kill lice and maggots together as the method of application is different Lice is a pin stripe down the spine so that it spreads all over the body in the grease Maggots is a fan spray and stays on the wool only protecting the areas sprayed . DYSECT will do all but is expensive ( large dose ) stinks ( oily smell ) not to be applied in hot weather and can stain the fleece plus long withdrawal 49days . Just do a cheap Crovect for the lice or Spot-on for the lice until you dip, on the lambs only Not the ewes if necassary

Compared to elanco products I think dysect is reasonably priced, and very useful due to its versatility.

whats the
Its difficult Dysect 49 days and i believe Zermasect is the same product just named differently. and we will have plenty of lambs fit before withdrawal so no good.

Not tried spot on any feedback on that--is it better than crovect/ fly off/vectrocert(these all been the same product? . Thats probably 8 days too? Not many options on the market.

Fly off is cheaper than crovect by the way by a fair bit

Dysect/Zermasect is £60 a bottle (5l), is a 40ml dose and gives cover for upto 12 weeks (with a 49 day withdrawal). only other pour-on on the market which will kill maggots and lice is Crovect/Vectocert/Ectofly which is also £60 a bottle, also 40ml dose with a 7day withdrawal (IIRC) and covers upto 8 weeks.

If you use Dysect on lambs under 25kg, it is a 25ml dose...

I fail to see your Dysect is expensive argument. It, and the other Cypermethrin products, are cheap compared to Elanco (Clik etc at £150+ for 5l) which won't even do what is desired.

In fresh shorn sheep/short wool, Crovect will kill lice aswell as cover for fly strike.

Depends on what you are doing , for me for ticks 40ml dysect 30ml crovect per ewe . For lice on lambs 25ml dysect 10ml crovect . For blowfly prevention on ewes no difference . Don't know how much for Dysect but crovect less than £60 here

As you say depends what youre doing. Their own vet officer told me on young lambs 25ml of Dysect was fine for ticks, because the bottle doesn't actually say, so I phoned them and asked... I don't do a tick spray on ewes though.

Have searched for FLY OFF no luck so far ,who makes it and who sells it ? Found it Country flyoff sold at fane valley £60 5lt
It has a Bimeda Label and is coming from Dublin Ireland. It has a Marketing Authorisation number. Am told its the same product as Crovect. I am sure with the vm number would prove that. 8 days withdrawal new product . Have a good bulk deal coming in under 50 pound. Will let you know exact price when i see paperwork. Think it says country on label somewhere?
