Explosion in Beruit

It didn't happen in the UK so I wouldn't worry
Hope your head is deep enough into the sand to avoid any serious damage; It's this kind of attitude that helps keep the public negative perception of farmers where it currently is; Just take a moment to see how your agri-business would be affected if it had to comply with the whole range of restrictions and regulations every other UK business dealing with ADR class products has to meet- The age-old agricultural exemptions will be under ever greater public and Government scrutiny and I wholly expect many of them to be rescinded and in the very near future.

Yes maybe not storing it next to a fireworks factory and then introducing a welder apparently

With the political situation out there who knows if it was accidental or intentional?
I doubt anyone who was close enough to know will be telling anyone.
Terrible event.

Saying on the news at least 100 dead and 4000 injured! It’s not surprising looking at some of the videos 😱

Head is definately out of the sand. Gov attitude to stuff like this is out of sight out of mind. Unless there's a social media storm over it then nowt will change. Most middle east news is yesterday's chip papers unless it involves Iran. Now if it had been a port in the UK or even Europe then it would be a different story.

HSE stipulate over here that every farm storing over 25t of AN must notify the fire brigade, so anyone that has even a s8ngle arctic load delivered should do so. Has anybody else tried?

When I had a visit coming I went through the process so that I could tick another box for him. I made a string of phone calls, before I finally got through to someone, at Powys County level, to be able to notify. Even she had never heard of the requirement before, there was no process in place to be able to do so, and no way for them to record it. We laughed at the absurdity of it, then decided that, as I’d told her, I had indeed notified the fire brigade.

Being in Ireland where I have never used AN I am happy I don't have such fertiliser stored in my yard. I am sure if it was legal here I would have and I would be as Blaise as most you are. But does it not concern any of you. Where your family homes are at your farmyard. Fires happen all the time for a variety of reasons. I had tractor burn that was full of diesel and there was a fair whoosh when tank went up. What if it had of been parked near a lorry load of AN would it of created a similar bang.
Having never used AN farmers here know no different so we don't miss it. Just like you won't if legislation came In banning it. Which by the way I don't think it will but small chance it might.
