Extase potential problems

Two agronomists from different companies have said the problems are early drilling and unusual late frosts.
Advising that October drilling will be fine and reporting very good yields, which we are finding .🤔

Did you see the posts that some of mine and @bankrupt 'S were drilled on the 16th and 17th of October and still suffered badly, I think they are going to be sat on a lot of cancelled extase seed so are going to be pushing it hard and hoping for a warmer spring.

It’s certainly very confusing
and thats what is making a decision wether to grow it (for the first time) or not here difficult ,especially when other varieties are turning out yields up there (skyscraper ,gravity gleam saki etc )with no problems .Doubt there will be many waiting till the end of october to sow ,we wont, after this last couple of years. I can well remember growing moulin and that wasnt an experience im likely to risk repeating

Our did ok. Some black ears in the higher block of land drilled middle of October and first week of November.Would of done really well with out them. Did notice no black ears under the hedges.

our Extase was the stand out variety this year, all drilled mid october. Poorest crops were late September . . . .
Drilling date doesn't explain why, unlike all other varieties, it suddenly lost all its leaves in that very wet spell at the end of June.

There was a very similar wet spell in mid-June last year with potentially similar results (posted on last year's Extase thread) but, it earlier having had a good dose of chlorothalonil, disaster was averted.
