Extase potential problems

Kws does seem to throw a lot of varieties at the market and rather than do years of trials they let us the grower find out if they are any good. Some are good and work but others are shite and disappear after a year. All at the growers risk and cost.

The RL really should be better at filtering the "scattergun" of new varieties - some with very tenuous reasons to be included.

I see this year's gp3 list has *five* new additions, all within a percent of each other for yield and disease. Same heights, and the same "lateness creep". It must be lgs turn to buy the pints with four new gp3s, and as far as I can see *zero* reasons to change from elicit or barral.

A gp4 seems to have been added with a five percent yeild reduction compared to best in class. Madness.

It’s called insitor so I suspect it’s all in your head!
As is KWS Cranium.

According to Wiki, SY Insitor is named for a minor God actually doing all the planting for Ceres, which would have been an absolute nightmare these last three years.

Question is whether its 39g tgw this time was actually due to lodging, for which it is well known, or to some obscure KWS-like disease problem to which we shall never be given the answer.

Just looking through the 2022/23 RL and the septoria tritici rating for Extase seems to have been slightly reduced but not much more than that for Graham or Insitor.

Absolutely no mention of septoria nodorum, which now doesn't even merit its own line in the tables, despite the fact that it's been by far the biggest disease problem in Extase the last two years.

:wtf: :wtf:
