Extase potential problems

I have a 4ha block of extase within 12ha of zyatt, intending to save for seed. Not combined yet but have rubbed out some ears - looks very disappointing. Zyatt top - Extase bottom, Extase looked clean healthy thick crop all the way through. Bought seed in.

8.5T/Ha!!
Our average so far is less than that. Over 1 t/ha down on last year, which was not exactly vintage.
Mind you the way some of it was established I shouldn't grumble.
Seems to be quite a lot of yield variability for different areas, presumably weather conditions in those localities. Just annoying if you happen to be in one of those affected areas (particularly in a decent price year), and not management related - simply the weather conditions.

Somewhat different, but a friend of mine who farms just above sea level direct drilled wheat last autumn, had a wet winter on it, yielded 1.5t/acre.
