They strike me as being a group of anarchists, trying to force their opinions on everyone rather than being democratic about it. In fairness to them though, most of our politicians are pretty useless. The real ways to address the problems are never going to be popular with Joe “foreign holidays” Public.

I was sceptical about these people until they suggested taking drugs on mass at a protest, then the alarm bells started ringing very loudly and my instinct said run away very fast.
The very real danger of getting into bed with these people is you are giving them credibility and I don't want to end up being dictated to by a load of junkies.
If they want real change they need to have a sense of responsibility and what they are advocating seems to be the opposite.
I'm just saying be careful, I certainly am not getting excited about this.
My first thought was , where's the Valmet, and no the orange one in the shed.;)

Your missing his point - a LOT of people agree with her and she has simply stepped up to lead them

You clearly don’t but that doesn’t make you right and them wrong, it just means you see things differently

i agree with much of XR.....the only problem is they sugar coat it to much IMO

they won't have a lot of choice soon......southern spain will be as hot as marrakesh is now......so how hot will marrakesh be..the northern coastal regions will have 10's (if not more) millions of africans wanting to migrate into europe.....remember syria was just 1 million .....what is europe to do?...let them in and assimilate...or kill them......UN estimates global migration due to climate change between 200 to a billion......when ppl move en masse it sparks conflict

Classic today. A group of about 7-8 from extinction rebellion have taken over my local BP petrol station. They have driven there in two vehicles (one diesel transit and a ford focus). When asked why they drove, they said there is no public transport... Well this is one of the best places for public transport in Suffolk! They have conned off the pumps and are camped on the roof of the shop dressed as polar bears.... The police say they can do nothing... How can they legally climb onto a roof and close a bsuiness?
I just dont get it

They could all be made to migrate East to Egypt/Iran/IraQ etc. Or North East to Russia or China. Plenty of space in those countries for them !!

well quite..... the media 'elite' is under the illusion that not eating red meat and doing a bit of cycling is going to cancel climate change :banghead:........fact is the whole way our economy/life works has to change....ppl and goods have got to stop moving.....so called 'free trade' has to end cos it's 'actually costing the earth'

We are incredibly wasteful, but it’s a consequence of genuinely cheap food. We really do have it good by historical standards, and what is easily the most wasted compartment of the fridge? In our house it is easily the salad and veg compartment! I honestly can barely remember throwing out any lean meat whatsoever, but lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, parsnips....etc etc is a different story, and I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the nation didn’t follow the same pattern.

All the meat we buy is British at the least, usually Scottish, and often home reared, compare the carbon footprint of that with veg that has flown across the world. If the media were sharing the bare facts UK reared beef and lamb would be top of the list for environmentally friendly, health promoting food, but that doesn’t fit the warped agenda....

Warming gases ,britain 0.8 %
China 32.4%

China is a very much bigger country though! The per capita figures are probably more relevant. China and UK are very similar then, both miles better than the US, Canada, Saudi and Australia.

As with many things, we all have our part to do.

yes export the perceived problem along with peoples livelihoods to them if these stupid targets are followed, that's what will happen

Many moons ago I wrote an article for our parish magazine, explaining why per capita our village was amongst the most environmentally destructive communities on the planet and saying what needed to happen. The editor refused to publish it, saying that it might 'upset people'.
We - the throwaway, consumerism obsessed, pollution exporting West - damned well need upsetting.

This will show how many moons ago it was....
I used to take my admin to a lovely lady in our college, she would type it up on her word processor/typewriter, I would go back the next day and proof read, she would retype it. So long gone I'm afraid. Could write it again tomorrow though, the problems and solutions are the same.

You mean the police don’t want to do anything! I’d say it’s aggravated trespass.

Made me laugh, your last sentence.
@Henarar says "there is nart new in farming" and the same holds true for any whole within a whole - all the answers are right in front of us and under our feet, they always were.
What it takes is discipline, the realisation that every tiny decision that we make either brings us closer or further away from our goals.

The underlying issue here, is that the same type of "thinking" that fudgeed the show is being used to try and fix the problem it created - a fundamentalist, reductionist, fragmented approach.

It's just like talking to a large group of farmers, in a lot of ways ?
