I’m solely contracting unfortunately. Bugger
I came across this outfit when I was looking for a repair, might be worth a shout unisgroup.co.uk
Sounds like something you could do outside of a busy time.So I sent it too them. They said they had repaired one before.
Then they said they couldn’t repair it as they couldn’t find the right info to test it!!
Got it back now. Loosing the enthusiasm for this little job.

So possibly consign it to the “spares” cupboard. Your enthusiasm might return in a few months time. Or not.
Part of the issue it’s a proprietary design (Trimble) stepper motor - so there is a hardware element (winding, field stator etc) then there is also “logic” embedded on there which control the motion of the stepper.Makes you think.....how many other industries would try as hard to repair something like this.
I'd suggest most other industries would scrap it and buy another and that would be that. Even if a farmer bought another.....rarely would I expect them to scrap the old unit!!
I guess as you say it's the seasonal nature of farming, as well as slim margins that encourage make do and mend.

I strongly suspect Trimble have little or no interest in giving detailed repair information to third parties, so unless said third parties have invested the time to work it out themselves, (read make it economically a worthwhile repair and for them to make a buck) then for all intents it’s scrap.
You can get the motor as a replacement part, but it's more expensive than the kit.Yeah I think that’s about right. Buggeration! It’s bloody annoying they won’t sell the steering wheel on its own. I wonder if @ascommunications
could do anything?

Mental.
Elliot, is it the ez guide or ez steer? I wouldn’t mind betting you could find just the wheel of either on eBay . Just keep looking, or AS Comms may have an old px one they would sell.
Ps, poor old Eddie!

....it easy pilot motorised collar that replaces the steering wheel like the topcon system you fitted to the 415 all those years ago. That was a bloody good system. Pulled you on line very quickly from 45 degrees.
I heard you first time
Eddie Grundy!
