F%%kin docks

Do star pro at half rate then be prepared to have another go if needed. Spray them when they are 15 /20 cm across before they have too heavier stalk if possible. Surprisingly easy to kill. More worried about the rushes I’ve just sprayed with mcpa and d 4 d. How long before those bloody things look sickly?

How old are the rushes ?
Best results I find are top then spray the tender new re growth

Did he have many weeds in the swedes? The biggest problem with Glastir unsprayed roots is that the weeds get a year of unfettered seeding time to top up the seed bank for another 70 years.
I’m taking the view that there aren’t many herbicides that are effective in swede crops anyway, so might as well take the £200/ac from Glastir and accept the weeds.
No weeds in the swedes crop,it was once it was roughed up for grass seed

When I last sprayed rushes with MCPA (I had some Polo left in the tank), they didn’t look sickly at all for about a month, then they only died back slowly. Nowhere near as dramatic as the effect on docks & thistles, but it does seem to kill the rushes properly, not just the top growth.

A field like that wants a crop of wheat in it.
1.5acre with a bricked drain straight across the middle and both roads going to it are tight with the box. It wasn’t farmed for 15 years and was just wilderness, neighbour topped it for a few years to clean it up somewhat, that and a 1acre next door have held 14 ewes and 15 lambs from April until today.

If they aren't too bad keeping them from getting any worse with a knapsack sprayer used to be ok but the modern sprays aren't as effective. Asulox was the stuff but I don't think you can get it now.
Asulox is available this year on emergency authorisation for helicopter, and was re authorised for ground vehicles at the end of June. It is totally fenced round with restrictions as you can see here;
Makes it impossible to use in my opinion.
