We have a patch of land that we have grassed down and use as fallow but then usually cut it for silage or hay first week of July. Question is could I cut it , ted it and get it ready as hay this week and then bale it on the 1st July? So I won’t be harvesting the crop until after the closed period.

Don't know, clearly not within the spirit of the directive but I like your thinking, you might just get away with it.

Seen as you don't own a topper, you had to cut it with your moco.......................

coincidentally in the best hay making week of the year

Probably not worth risking the sub for a few bales of hay. Thanks for the advice. I bet it will rain from Sunday onwards but then again we are desperate for rain so what will be will be.

Could be worse you could have fallow under HLS & canna do nowt with it other than top the weeds then spray it
if needed on aug1st no cultivation's for next seasons crop until Aug 15th.
I just make it a bigger area than it needs to be to give me some flexibilty.
Muck Heaps & subbed the headland tramlines.
Does no good to any land leaving it as scrub basically.
Try telling the ECO warriors this tho :banghead:

Mower went into my fallow margins on Sunday at 10am, by 4pm yesterday I was baling, driest bits only to be fair, but 30 hour hay is a personal record (y)
Tedded once in the morning, then rowed up after lunch. Baled the rest that was down today.
