Farm assured

I expect this has been covered before but I can't find it. I am looking into becoming farm assured, which is the best mob to go with and how do I go about getting the ball rolling?

Not sure what they are like with cattle but most of the inspectors we have dealt with have been pretty reasonable people, usual they are also farmers or from farming families, on the whole they do understand the industry. Remember don't treat the inspector like the enemy, they do not arrive with the intention to fail you but to help you comply with the scheme rules. I was for a while involved in inspections and unsurprisingly the farmers that got the worst reports where those that took an agressive, unhelpful approach towards the inspectors. It is much easier for both parties when there is a cup of tea, some chocy biscuits and the key paperwork is at hand.

It always helps to be on top of your paperwork. Try to have everything to hand in one big lever arch file, where you can go straight to something he asks for.

Nothing looks worse than scratting about for bits of paper from underneath piles of newspaper, post and other irrelevant rammel when he asks for evidence of something simple and straightforward.

Goes without saying that a clean & tidy workplace gives a good first impression right from the start, to someone who has never been before.

Have been with SAI global no problems good assessors very helpful. Have not renewed this year as sold out of cattle and no premium locally in Mart or direct to abattoir.
