Farm Business Plan

Hi Folks,

I am new here. I am looking to purchase a small holding and keep sheep/store lambs on this land. For my loan application , the bank has requested that I submit a Farm Business Plan for a 3 year period.

I am wondering if any of you would have a copy of a typical farm business plan that I could use/amend to suit my proposed sheep farming enterprise.

Thanks

How big of a small holding, is it fenced/watered/good land?
What are you interested in stock/crops wise apart from sheep?
Do you have a full time job?
What knowledge/experience do you have with sheep? Fag packet figures can be put together quickly enough but i’m Sure the bank wants a lot more detail? Always put your value of lambs at store price of 30kg and ewes at a cull price - never go ambitious with your figures as only 1 year in 5 May work out like that.

He better have a fulltime job because if he can pay for a small holding off the back of a few ewes and store lambs he should be posting his business plan not asking for ours!

It was more about getting a feel for the person, were they a free loving hippie type or a genuine hard worker (y);)

I am looking at approx. 60acres of land, some of it would require some work but not immediately. It is well fenced and has some good boundary stone walls. There is water troughs in all fields. I have not given any thought to dry beef cattle in the short to medium term as they are loss making right now and no point trying to sell that on a business plan to the bank manager. I could hold sheep to lamb or sell a cut of silage to dairy man in early summer and run store lambs on the after grass to fatten. Yes I have a full time job, so its important that I can manage my time. I would have previous experience of managing sheep to lamb , so I know well the work involved. Ya in my head I could put rough figures together that wouldn't be a mile off, but I would think the bank would be looking for something more flowery and its this type of content/example that I need some guidance on?
