Farm Compare - beta testers required

We are currently developing a free to use 100% anonymous price comparison engine for TFF members. In the first instance it will be for crop protection product prices only but we plan to extend to fuel, fertilizers, machinery and other stuff we all buy if it all goes well

It will allow farmers (and only those farmers) who submit prices to see prices in the market for what ever product they are looking for and where to get it at that price from. It will become a very valuable buying tool for us all

For each product price you share you will be able to search for another product, using it to benchmark your performance or find out where the cheapest price for the product you need currently is

To get this up and running we need your help !

We have created a version 1 of the price input system and we now need some real prices from a variety of sources, merchant, distributors and buying groups to help us with development of the results service and search engine that will become a nice easy to use web page and phone app

Beta testers will get access to a private TFF forum to give feedback and as soon as we have enough prices we will share them (100% anon at all times of course) in a very simple thread forum until we get the results pages and app built hopefully between now and autumn

Limited places available - please add your name to this thread or PM / @Chris F or me if you wish to remain 100% anon about your submissions

Can those using serviced agronomy use it?

yes - we want everything - serviced, independent buying, buying groups the lot - we will compare them all

so for the independent buyer you can see which supplier is cheapest for that particular product right now or which buying group is the best. For the serviced client you can see juts how much service is costing you or if a different serviced co is cheaper etc

when we show results we will show where from and if serviced or not so you the users can make their own comparisons and discussions from that

Will we only see the prices of the products we submit?

As a beta tester who submits prices you will see all the price data in a very raw thread style

when we get the search engine / page and app working (8 -12 weeks is the dev plan) for every product price you share you will get to search for price info on 1 other product (any product) of your choice. So the more you share the more you benefit ................. fair trade - information for information

Farmers actuality working together for once to get us all better deals !

Will the final version show serviced or non serviced in the pricing.

This is the thing I find at the moment as folk might put Bravo £55 for 10litres but means nothing if we don't know if independent or full service agronomy imo

Edit. Just seen your earlier post says it will . I'd think it would be better kept as just a pricing only platform, keep the discussions for the price tracker topic . Often there you scroll through page after page of discussion, with no actual prices .

Once you’ve searched for a product and found a price will the price update if someone puts a new better price in for that product or will you have to search every time you want to check the price? Hope that makes sense
I.e. Will I be able to compile a list of products I’m using over time that updates prices automatically?

Ps, as I’m on services agronomy (but seriously looking at moving away from it!) I wouldn’t mind getting involved with the beta version and putting some prices in. Thanks

the plan is it will show you both serviced and none serviced prices, there will be no thread type discussion just results that individuals can then use however they wish

The system will constantly update as new products come in. So it will change daily and therefore you will need to check, however some alerts are a good idea so you are alerted when new data is available.

For any given product, say "Bravo 500", the system will also give you prices for all the equivalent 500g CTL products. You can also filter this for crop type as well. I think there are about 60 CTL products (500g) on the market right now for instance.

yes - it will update live as more price data comes in is the plan

for those wanting to help us test and develop at this stage the results will be quite raw - its a bit chicken and egg really in that we need real world price submissions over a period of time to help us build the search and results system
