Hi all,

We attended our first Cereals farm show a few weeks ago and were very happy with the number of people that stopped by our booth! We were the silly Americans with a big, yellow drainage plough on display. If anyone missed our booth or the demo day we hosted last week, I wanted to post some videos and photos here in case anyone was interested! Let me know what ya think.

Also, here's a video recap from our UK Demo Day.

We installed 4" pipe at about 32" deep with a Soil-Max ZD1200 that was being pulled by a Valtra T 174.

Would this type of drain be as effective as a French tile type drain with stone around the pipe?
I will say this, our customers in the UK haven't used stone yet and almost every farmer in the US installs tile without stone. Most of that is due to their tile design. Shorter spacings between runs and even installing shallower in some cases. You spend more on pipe but save much more by not having to purchase stone.

A short story, customers in Norway requested that Soil-Max design a gravel box so they did but after 3-4 years, Norwegian farmers stopped using the gravel box because they realized they didn't need it. All goes back to their tile design. But Soil-Max does make a gravel box for anyone interested in using stone.

Of course, soils are different all over the world so it's just a matter of doing some digging, getting some insight, and deciding how to design your drainage scheme.

Here's a picture of the gravel box that Soil-Max makes. Our customer in Israel customized the top of this one to allow for more gravel to be poured in.
