I hope you realise it's all out of balance, the left hand pin is longer than the right hand one, plus the R clip is heavier.

It is pretty handy. It has a flat platen fitted currently that has a ceramic tile face for low wear and is adjustable through quite a range. If needed i could build an arm that would take various wheels instead.
I have a table for it for sitting work pieces on, against the belt. The top is all slack belt, good for convex grinds on sharp things (axes prime example for me)

I have repaired, modified and scratch built plenty of my own kit in the past, and will continue to do so. TBH all the talk of #$€(the now unspeakable) put me off posting anything here in the future, if it's all true it's a crock of sh!t, it won't stop me or many others I'm sure, but would any of us want to attract unwanted attention and have posted photographic evidence of our exploits? I hope not and hope to see many fine creations and if I can figure out how the heck to post a photo then I hope to contribute also.

If a man can't put his thinking cap on, have a go at building something, show a bit of ingenuity, take it to work with a satisfied grin on his face, and show his mates what he's created , just like all the great inventors have done, without some office bound idiot with no idea telling him he can't do it, then it's a sad day for us all!
these office bound idiots some time come out and become examiners a pal of mine had to take a test to operate plant machinery apparently you need a certificate for some applications, he was fifty and was the best machine operator i have seen the examiner was a youth early twenties, lets just say my pal had a humour failure the boy had to run off site with the machine in pursuit

its difficult though. ini the olden days, young people grew up on and in effect had an apprenticship with machinery and by the time they were 18 were "competent"
that is not the case now, as many (not all) people who drive machines (for example) have no background and so a competence scheme becomes required, especially in the more hazardous world we lve in now.
So when we have the sceheme, if your mate is competent, just do the test, and move on. why people have to assume that a mature person being assessed to undertake a specific activity is an insult i dont understand.

please dont tar all office people with the same brush. Where i work we have some who claim they know everything and clearly dont, whereas i consider myself to be well versed in many topics, but can learn so much from visiting sites, which i regulalry do.

the problem is these inspector jobs attract a certain type not all of them are ass holes the instance i was referring to was a man of great ability and good manners he was being tested by a rude cocky youth, when the conversation starts with right mate letts see if you can drive this thing, i am not saying we don't need qualifications its a shame we dont ask members of the house of commons to take a test to see if they can run the country.
