lets see how good your NFU is then DaiWelsh Govt. have sent out a consultation about upgrading all footpaths to bridle paths and cycle paths. They want to bring this in on every footpath in Wales with no liability on local councils to spend on upgrading infrastructure like replacing styles with gates etc.
They also want to strengthen the TPO ( tree preservation order) laws, making it the land owners responsibility to maintain trees subject to TPO's.
And, wait for it... They want to bring in new laws that will mean they can issue fixed penalty fines for issues currently covered by cross compliance rules.
What are they going to give us in return I hear you ask? Sweet FA as far as I can see.

We wouldn't even know what WG were planning if it wasn't for the NFU. Needless to say they're fighting it tooth and nail but there's only so much you can do when there's a Labour govt with a working majority in power. Believe it or not they don't want to listen and to be frank they don't really care what we as farmers think.lets see how good your NFU is then Dai
Exactly! H&S issues all round if you ask me.would footpath walkers want bloody horses and cycles on the footpaths
I would only advocate that sort of action when there is a 'Government' acting in an authoritarian way. The WAG is doing so and such a response is justified. But, I think it unlikely that NFU Cymru will agree; if they do, IF, it would certainly be something that would make me consider them to be an organisation worth joining. @GTB?Sounds like it needs a campaign of complete non-cooperation by all farmers until sanity prevails. Anything any council wants refused forcing them to resort to legal notice.
I could see NFU Cymru agreeing to unilateral action as decribed if it comes to it. They will however never condone law breaking direct action (as per FFF) as they have to sit around a table with Civil Servants and Politicians on a regular basis and by getting involved in such action would definitely lose them their seat at the table. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture I'm afraid.I would only advocate that sort of action when there is a 'Government' acting in an authoritarian way. I haven't advocated anything Criminal, and wouldn't. 'Passive resistance' is the obvious course of action in this case.I could see NFU Cymru agreeing to unilateral action as decribed if it comes to it.
