Think you could be wrong about the grenadier . It will sold worldwide markets are opening up ,and enquiries are coming in. The two factories where it was going to be built ,as not got enough space so probably got to move to France to the old Mercedes factory .
I fully accept I may be wrong and the Grenadier could be a resounding success, however most countries already use the tried and tested Landcruiser, add to that Toyota reliability and Grenadier have their work cut out competing in that market.

That Landrover vinyl type cover is pretty good and doesn't absorb wet or dust like cloth does
There are far better vinyls than old LR Defender type. The Ford Ranger for instance has 'leather' seats which are actually almost all vinyl and last far longer than old Defender seats before any cracking or splitting.
Yes, leather/vinyl is far better in a working truck than cloth, which becomes saturated with dust and moisture and almost impossible to clean. Most unpleasant!
My previous pickup had cloth seats and waterproof seat covers on top, but they didn't last more than a couple of years before becoming torn and displaced. Not a deal breaker though and I would have cloth with covers again if the rest of the vehicle was what I wanted.

Yeah but I just want the ute type not the fancy ones that are available here.
Classic plus would do for me.

Can't you just import one?
Following your link and pricing up a Landcruiser at somewhere from 77-80,000 aus$ is about £44,000.
In 1986 I paid £10,250 for mine, brand new, factory order to African spec i.e heavy duty everything. Apparently £10,250 in 1986 is equivalent to £25,625 today. Even at £44,000 I would say the Landcruiser is good value compared to most of the 4x4 vehicles in this country that are capable of serious hard work. Of course getting one from Aus would cost a lot more even if it were possible. But it makes you think!

As for this Grenadier... does anyone else think it looks just a wee bit like a Land Rover Defender?
Oh, no,no, no, the design is based on pure engineering principles based on a separate chassis, beam axled, four wheel drive vehicle. Boxy shape to carry lots of things, alpine windows to let light in, pure coincidence that it resembles any other off road vehicle.;)

Not much original thought has gone into this design. External door hinges in 2025? I don’t think so! Why? It’s just lazy copying of the ancient Defender basic design coupled with current drivetrain components. As long as the passenger compartment is significantly increased in dimensions and refinemen, it will be OK but it can’t be anything special, that much is obvious. It just mimics the ancient Defender design too much to be special.

Frankly if it is not built in Britain, I urge everyone to boycott the vehicle on principle.. A champion for Brexit putting his money where his mouth never is, into the EU in preference to the UK. Such gross hypocrisy doesn’t deserve a single Pound of UK customer’s money.

Re building them in the Uk - is it just me that sees the irony here from a market that loves a Jap pickup and complains that Land Rover are “just too expensive”
Yes.
The actual hypocrisy is that the owner of the company championed Brexit but when it comes down to it puts his money into the EU. That it will be yet another import is less of an issue than the stinking hypocrisy shown by the Boss
I will not buy a foreign built Grenadier on principle. That the other candidates are also foreign built is irrelevant.

If I'm going to buy a foreign built 4x4 then there are many better candidates. If it's UK built I'll swallow that to support it.
