Yes, but... I can understand the reasons behind having construction in somewhere like Thailand (not France!), what with the large costs of set-up, employment etc.*, but what I simply can't get my head around is why design is still crap.If I'm going to buy a foreign built 4x4 then there are many better candidates. If it's UK built I'll swallow that to support it.
Anyone on TFF could sit down and, within a few minutes, come up with at least half a dozen genuine improvements for such a vehicle. Bleeding obvious ones to me are footwell plugs, wind up windows, gavl'ed or stainless chassis, boot-space heater, 12v plugs by all doors, front and rear hitches. Others will say no to some of these, fine, they don't have to be there since modern production lines can offer bespoke vehicles. I'm not bothered about any 'luxury', bin it, the cost savings will allow practical things as standard. Anyway, if they had their brains working, it should all be electrically powered.
*However, post-Brexit, there is nothing to stop massive incentives to construct in the UK. For myself, I'm happy to see a vehicle construction plant pay only a nominal 'business rate', say even as little as £1k, just for the huge benefits it brings through employment and secondary spending.
