Im looking for a map to hang on the wall of the office, ideally showing field boundaries etc. and with a wipeable surface so I can add notes as required.

Has anyone done something similar and any suggestions for a supplier?

I bought a high resolution satellite photo of the farm a few years ago and had it printed and bonded on a 4'x4' sheet of plastic board. It's quite handy but not great for making marks and notes etc because its basically all green. I had planned to frame it with a sheet of perplex over but never did because of this issue.

OS will print you a map based on the area you ask, I had different scale ones done for planning applications and just get them copied, got one of the whole farm too.

Do they go down to field boundaries?
Yes, it's just a ordnance survey map based on the area you give them, at the scale you want, it's a while since I had them done but I think the can produce them to fit on the size of sheet you want, obviously the scale then is hard to work from, if you google OS you can get a contract number, we I got mine had them in a few days and not crazy money

Ok I have done this type of thing for my self, to give contractors etc, you can just go to “bing maps” click os map in the overlay, now the next bit is down to your skills. If you have a windows 10 pc there is a built in app to screen capture any area of what you can see on screen, snip tool it looks like a pair of scissors.
Zoom in on the map as much as possible and grab screen shots of your farm ideally with no junk in the area your screen spotting so just map. Have clean edges to to snips you take makes the next step easier, or you will be forced to re-edit the screen shots or retake them.
You may need to do quite a few to get all your farm depending on its size.
Once your happy you have clean screen shots of all you want, you can move to a photo tool program there are free ones but the better one you have the easier stitching all the screen shots back into one bigger picture will be.
I used Corel draw, but others are available, create a large new image of the size you wish to print A0 which is bigger than A1 paper is about the max that’s easy to get printed.

then import all the screen shots and arrange them so you cannot see the overlaps if you find you have missed any just go back to bing and get them.
If you find the images are to big or to small to fill the new image don’t worry you can correct this nearer the end by just enlarging or shrinking the final image but it’s important to capure the images as big as possible so they have as much detail as possible and avoid shrinking images unless needed also save the image before you do any shrinking as you lose detail as you shrink, last mini tip save your progress often save as and change the file name say farm 1, farm 2, farm 3 so if you find you made a mistake you can always go back to hopefully a point where you didn’t.

The final step is highlight your field boundary’s for the most part they will be there this can be done manually in coral draw or it’s possible to use tools to mess with the basic map you just created to give you any outcome you want,

but my guess for simplicity you can use the coral draw line tool which can draw straight lines or smooth curved lines, my suggestion is draw around each fields boundary in full make a closed shape this can then be simply colour filled to blank out any unwanted text or details inside the fields boundary.

while I am sure this maybe to much outside some of your skill sets, so ask your children/ grand children or use YouTube to learn how.
While they may not be as good as OS maps you can buy they will only cost time and getting it printed out, and then a sheet of plastic to cover it up.
Or just print one every year after you have set your cropping and you can give each crop and field a colour code on the map and you can shrink the map and print it for contractors.

Surely the easiest way to do this is to sign up to The Land App for free - https://thelandapp.com/ - Import your data from the RPA, again free, you then have a choice to either overlay the imported land parcel data on a satellite image or OS map. You can then choose to purchase the map you have produced, or if you have the knowhow edit it and print it for free.

Can you get a image file for a map that I can send to the some one who can print it on larger than a3?

I've never bought a map from them, but I have just checked and it appears you can only print direct. An A3 map is £7.50, an A2 is £15.00 and a A1 or A0 is a rather steep £76.16!

Thanks. I’ll have a look later.
I've just been looking again, and the prices I quoted above are for the data overlaid on OS light, if you select full OS it is significantly more expensive again. However, if you choose a satellite image, it's cheaper than the above.
