Farm Office in Shed

I need a new farm office.

I have one building that is very well weather proofed and almost new floor with light and water plus it already has WiFi access. It is also totally secure

Thinking about building an office in one corner of the building.

Size wise, 3m by 4m. Big enough for desk abd meeting a couple people at a time?

would need an external window adding but don’t think that’s a big deal.

Insulate the hell out of it, good few sockets abs decent led lights.

Any idea if rough cost before I approach some one to do work?

No idea about cost. But my farm office is in corner of a garage/ shed. It also has a shower, toilet, kitchen and is a general eating area for people working on farm.

It's fine. It gets a bit cold in winter, don't think there's any insulation. The toilet etc freezes in depths of winter.

I don’t need a toilet shower as have that set up in same shed already for caravan site customers.

I definitely want it warm though 😂

Have you enough room to drag a pre-fab unit in? I have used Heaver Brothers up by the airport a few times in the past. The thing I really liked was it’s always an asset you could sell on

I have been looking at prefab stuff but it seems very expensive right now for anything half decent. Also where I would locate it would be away from WiFi and not in line of site if any current WiFi access points.

Would need power and water connections.

I have one in house too where I do farm accounts.

All the cattle passports etc are in shed office.

The house office is at bottom of a field, off farm. Dads house.

Never thought of it before but in event of a fire its probably better having them seperate.

I have a wireless router for WiFi. Just have a EE sim in it. The farm phones and 2 wireless routers share data bundle.

mobile coverage is awful here, a joke really being less than 5 miles from a fairly big city. It’s the main reason I’ve put in WiFi access points around the main yard to get WiFi calling.

One of the reasons I use cloud storage for work files. Can access it from anywhere and it should be backed up properly

Has your building a door big enough to get a portacabin in.

Got a s/h one 24 ft x 8 ft for £2k delivered a few years ago.
Ready wired, panel heaters insulated, sink, water heater,

Connect leccy & water & job sorted

Started off in the yard then when we put the robots in it went in the cow shed

Haha…nope. That won’t be possible.

And a cabin like that now would be £5k plus.

I insure my cattle passports. Think a replacement is about £20. When you have 300 cattle it’s considerable.
Also, they are often in one file and that’s sometimes in the pickup

Just converted an little unused room in my house to an office and now it looks like we have to move house and start again. :banghead: :banghead::banghead:

There's a little old building next to new house I fancy making into an office come meeting room but in all reality I think buying a cabin would be cheaper and far easier, a 16'×8' would do me fine.

Just had a small shed converted into a clean room, false ceiling, plastic lined walls, lino floor and new but basic electrics. Cost just over £3k and I think that was cheap.
I would expect your office to be similar and probably a bit more. £5k would make it a nice place.
