Farm Plastic

No company will recycle black plastic im told today, cant send it abroad anymore as they refuse to take it due to soil contamination, no one can afford to wash it because of disposing the dirty washings.
We need to find ways to reduce its use as its getting out of hand.
Whats the collectives answer?
How are you disposing? £195ton to put it in landfill but thats not a great idea....

Its ever since China said they didn't want amy more plastic. The firms that were taking dirty plastic now use the clean, dropping us producers of dirty plastic in it!

And in a panarama investigation, china where burning 95%.......

The local incinerator want nothing to do with it.

EA have told our plastic contractor to not accept any more, and its better for 500 farms to have 2 ton each on farm than him have a massive pile due to the possibility of some w4nker no doubt torching it one night.

So whats the answer..

When I was at Uni there was great excitement about biodegradable silage wrap and film. Great idea.

But that was 13 years ago and no progress. What medium will break it down I've no idea as we need it stored for a long while so that rules out UV.

We had plastic picked this week all mixed dry in dump bags paid £135 a tonne, and a generous tonne, but that is the last they are picking up, stopping all collection end of Dec. I'm looking at putting clamp in, and a bulk bay for sawdust rather than bales, trying to reduce all plastic use, pees me off when you buy pallets of blocks or steaks and come wrapped in it!

So what happens then when you get a FA inspection and you haven't got a waste disposal ticket for black plastic because no one will take it??

Also I thought a lot of it was recycled into things like Garden furniture?

Get a waste transfer ticket for recyling as they are happy to take fert bags

Well if no one will take the black plastic then I cannot see how they give you a non compliance for it because if they do then most farmers will end up being forced out of being farm assured.

You might be intrested in the calve prices I posted on the beef tracker from Exeter today but don't read it if you have already had a bad day!

So what are we to do with the plastic? Regardless of any ticket

Can't they do same as used tyres?
I was amazed to hear today they're all collected at £1.40 a tyre and taken to a tarmac/cement place and burned....

In my ignorance I thought they were recycled! What a con the tyre charge is!!
