Farm Solutions staff agency

I am currently looking at using these to provide me with a new Herdsman after my current Herdsman retires. He's with LKL but looking to try someone else as getting zero communication from them.
Has anyone used Farm Solutions and how have you found them to work with?

Dare I ask how? I nearly took a job through them a few years ago
I took a job on a dairy farm 250 miles from where I was working at the time and everything looked good in the interview. Farm Solutions say you should be paid hourly but the chap wanted to go down the salaried route so we worked out a fair wage for a 60 hour week. Once I took the job I realised the farmer was a tyrant and had gone through 3 herdsmen and numerous staff in the previous 6 months, needless to say I didn't last long. I agreed to work until the following Sunday and then I would be on my way. Anyway on the Tuesday before the farmer said he didn't need me but would honour his word and pay me until Sunday. When it came to getting paid they wouldn't pay me as he wouldn't sign my time sheet and they didn't want to know so not only did I not get paid for the days I was promised (but didn't work) I also got no pay for the previous weeks work. I also worked a lot more than 60 hours per week with no reimbursement. I blame the farmer, if you can call him that, 100% but Farm Solutions didn't want to know and provide me with no help. They washed their hands of the whole situation and they knew what the farmer was like but still offered to find him staff. The whole thing cost me nearly £1k and I vowed to never work for an agency or any other parasite for that matter. The farm is based in Cheshire but I won't give out the name on here. All I will say is if anyone suspects who it is and may be going for a job or doing any dealings with the guy pm me. And for the record his wife is 10x worse than he is if that is even possible.

Don't really know how they work but why use an agency to find someone and on the flip side if you were a good herdsman why go through them?
Not judging just curious.
Main reasons I went with LKL was to 'buy' some personnel management. Also advantages in they are used to screening candidates. There are some right horrors out there and the last thing you want is them stuck in your cottage.

I went through them because I was looking for work so far away from where I was based and I expected them to find me a suitable job or at least screen out some non starters. I later found out that the farmer used them as a last resort and the agency knew this but still let me take the job. The number of jobs advertised through Farm Solutions and LKL is massive because they post in the magazines and advertise all over the place.

Similar reason here, I had failed to find a reliable herdsman on 3 occasions so thought I should use a different method. As Einstein said "If you do the same thing, expect the same result!" (roughly speaking).
My last herdsman turned out a heroin addict so I had to try something different!

To be honest I don’t think there’s enough good staff out there and the likes of lkl are struggling to fill the amount of vacancies they have on their books

I was just wondering if this was in reference to Sunnyside Farm as this sounds exactly identical to my current position and i couldn’t believe I’d found this
