This is one for the machinery thread and cold winter night, but ,I’m in a dilemma we run a jd 8345 rt and I’m considering complementing it with a wheel tractor of the same size (8345r or similar) . Would love a xerion but I would hope it would be able to do a few smaller jobs occasionally ( move bowser, fert around a bit of corn cart with 18 tonne trailer) is this an absolute no no? I’ve got a good fendt 724 which is a lovely tractor but can’t share any of the primary cultivation kit really and makes more sense to change tractor rather than a whole range of kit to match it.
Basically how clumsy are these bigger tractors?

On long runs I used the xerion on a 10t grain trailer. Extremely manoverable due to the 4ws steer. We had 800 or 900 (can’t remember) tyres on it which made it big. I remember having another one for a few weeks on a chaser bin and that was on smaller 650 tyres which made a big difference to how it looked and worked as that one turned much sharper.

Welcome to the club Pete
I am in Wales at the moment but are starting the long trip home at dinner time So will sort those manuels out next week as promised
I take it the recalibration of the Eccom put your mind at rest.

You know where I am if you have any questions

Gearbox seems fine Max, thank you.

Had her on the Sumo Trio for a few hours yesterday. Not much of a test but we did get the odd grunt on the real tough patches. All seems well, everything works, nothing got too hot and there’s no oil pouring out of anywhere so I guess that’s good!!

Had a local lad on it for the afternoon and he loved it.

Looks like it’s a goer.!

Top choice this Pete and an exciting project

The answer to your needs was staring us in the face all along and this is a great choice, they are a great tractor

looking forward to your #pimpmyxerion thread !

Thanks Clive.

I did briefly consider one four years ago but just thought they were too big. Plus, I didn’t have the time to convert one because I wanted to get road legal asap. That was the only reason I changed from Big A to Multidrive anyway.

The local Claas rep came and spent an hour with us yesterday and gave me some good pointers. I’ve got David King Electronics lined up to sort any wiring extensions and I recently heard a chap about 8 miles away has a Saddle Trac with a slurry injector. He has said I can visit him as many times as I need to get things right, so hopefully we are good to go.

I hardly dare say it, but I could do with three months of rain. But not to start for a while!!

Have one on 4m versadrill and very mobile with 4ws. Heavy but with 4 710s r42 it doesnt mark ground. Great value tractors and very high spec
