To buy. We are a family moving back there from Canada 6 adults and 3 children. Originally from England and now moving back. Our farm here is sold and we are now looking for property there. What is the Sussex area like?

Sorry for late reply, been busy.

Reasons for moving are, been here nearly 10 years the drainage programs suck wel there is none land prices have gone up 4 fold since we brought so good time to sell up.

But here in canada borrowing money is easy just like it used to be in the uk but borrowing cash in the uk on arable farm you know 100 percent of the time you will get an average crop to pay the bills if a winter crop fails you have the chance with spring drilled. Here you have one chance, in the 9 years we have been here we have seen crops wiped out buy bugs flooded heat etc.

Dont get me wrong its a good life style but the winters do drag on and not knowing if the crop is gonna make it to the end to make the repayments is a huge burden.

I've done the big machinery new sprayers combines etc but that soon grows old just wanna move home have a 400 ac farm that will produce same as 1600 acs here with less work and garanteed income.

We know the wifes have to go to work maybe me and my brother will have to do a little contracting for extra income but we feel its the right thing to do for our family.

really from when mum and dad started to farm on there own in the uk with 42acs in 1980 to 4600 acs in 2013 we havnt done bad at all

It gives an overall view of the market in EA which makes an interesting read. Property is cheaper in this region so you have the opportunity to acquire more land without paying for an expensive house!
