definitely worth supporting that things need a bloody good shake upBut if you don't support it then nothing will ever change and we are trying to change things.

I tend to find drivers who regularly deliver to farms aren’t a problem.Same here - a lot depends on whether you get a driver or just a steerer
i bought 10,000 L via FarmDeals this morning - 54.9p - cheaper than any of the companies i rang
if you want better prices join the group as when it becomes the uks biggest we might just get away from this crazy “buy retail sell wholesale” attitude this industry has
strength here is in numbers - even if you are not ready to buy yet becoming a member gives us the scale and strength to engage with manufacturers to get the better prices that you will want to buy at in the future ……. chicken and egg as you say !!!
We ate trying ! it’s free ! you have nothing to loose by supporting it …… you never know it might just work and those that supported it from the start will not be forgotten !!!
I was so disappointed as I have not yet had a message from some Russian girl called Emily who lives in the USA and needs to chat.
havn't read the thread so aplogies if covered....BUT are 'chat services' part of farm deals ......also 'blue badges and pigs'
asking for friend obviously
Fram Farmers tried to join today
Who is allowed to join and who isnt?
Anyone who adds to sales volume is helping with leverage?

Drivers who are used to delivering to industrial estates tend to be more of a problem, and even had a driver of a 4wheeler box lorry moaning that he shouldn’t be sent to places like this yet artics get in with no problem according to some drivers, who say they go to plenty of places worse.

All farmers in the UK can join. That is the point, its a buying group for all, I speak to lots of groups and many aren't interested in farms under 1000 acres. They are successful as the cherry-pick the big farms and those farms get great prices. But they aren't interested in helping smaller farms as its too much hassle for them. They don't want the admin. They can't cope with the admin.
Surely not many ‘small’ farmers will surely be interested in pallet deals on glyphosate?
Most of the companies on there sell direct do they not?won’t always be pallet deals ….. things have to start somewhere however
no arable farmers will be interested in the feeds and minerals on there right now but hopefully eventually there will be something for everyone
As Chris has said sone buying gtoups wont even let you join unless you are “big” farm - FarmDeals wants farmers of all types and sizes
Most of the companies on there sell direct do they not?
Woldmarsh has a very robust application process which is not based upon the size of a farm, it is about having like minded members who support and value the co-operative ethos. In terms of administration, the use of technology means this is efficient, accurate and cost effective. To cut paper waste and remain efficient, we encourage suppliers to send invoices electronically which are imported into the systems; meaning that manual entry is almost extinct. Members can access their statements online and download invoices as required. Members value the "back office" function especially those who may not have the time or resources to spend too long dealing with admin issues. Therefore, we are happy to take that admin burden away so that our members can get on with the thing they do best. (posted by Heather Claridge, Chief Operating Officer)All farmers in the UK can join. That’s probably 10 years or so ago, so not sure if he’s still about or not. Can’t remember who he was delivering for but he hasn’t been back since..............maybe we’ve been blacklistedAha him, he is still about then....
at the moment most do yes, maybe not always at the same prices however plus there is a connivance in not having to call around to find the best prices today on products like fuel
as it grows there will be many more direct deals - we had a deal on grain dryer fuel 2 weeks ago directly from the wholesaler……. it was over 20p/L cheaper than the best retailer at the time !!!! you won’t get those kind of deals directly
Working together is the key to improving on farm
But you are a middle man just like they areit all comes at a cost though doesn't it, and still operates via a number of middlemen layers, UK ag is simply not going to be in a position to afford any fat on the bone going forward in our unsubsidized future. Buying groups need scale, way beyond that of even the largest UK ag buying groups right now ................... scale brings direct access to supply
Digital is the way all buying (and selling) is going - just ask the high street! people and premises are expensive, there is no "back office" to a truly digital buying group but that doesn't mean no customer service either, that's 24/7/365 in any user's own hands to access. Eventually, we plan for FarmDeals to work with TFF's price comparison service Farm Compare and even integrate into farm management software. Focus is on the app right now that works well for fuel and will have other product categories added in the next couple of weeks
existing buying groups need to start working together to get that scale if they are to remain relevant IMO - FarmDeals is open to discussing collaborations that benefit farmers with anyone
