I’m going to struggle to justify the carbon emissions from today’s journey.

Went for a 6 hour round trip to buy a stock ram.......yes 1.:bag:

Almost past @Cowabunga ’s front door.

You did. But I wasn't home this afternoon. Was further down at the Museum of Internal Fire firing up day this afternoon and then back to Llanarth for GW Tyres grand opening from about 3pm. You probably turned off at Llanrhystud, a good bit north, and down through Talsarn, Cribyn, to Pencader?

3 hours plus for your journey. Silly isn't it. I could get to London in 4 hours on a good day. Heading up your way on route to Liverpool in a few weeks time. Maps tells me to go up to Llangurig, Llanidloes, Gobowen and up rather than the more usual route through Bala. Just over 3 hours estimated for the journey to Liverpool, according to Google Maps, sounds very optimistic :scratchhead:

Came to Aberystwyth then down the coast to just beyond Llanarth, then down to Llandysul and off into the real back of beyond through Pencader and cowboy country. :nailbiting:

I reckon that would be faster than the Bala way. But it will be much more than 3 hours.
@Yale what ram did you get?

That's the way I'd go. Turn off the A487 at Synod Inn. However, most people coming down from Aberystwyth would probably have turned off at Llanrhystud, depending on how far south of Pencader you were going. In your case turning at Gwyddgrug to Pencader and down to Dolgran. Not much in it by the time you cross I don't suppose and you certainly took the better road [believe it or not].

I would have thought so too and I printed the route out the other day and it does say an almost unbelievable three hours and one minute. Didn't give it a start time but we may have the advantage of starting early, because I need to be there by 8.30am. Although we may decide to travel on the Sunday and stay overnight near Liverpool. We'll see.

I think EV pickups or hybrids will suit alot of europe, so the tech is coming.

As for rushing this tech or govts mandating it, that plan will come un stuck pretty fast due to the mining required for the resources, this is a factor overlooked so many die to people limited knowledge of mining.

Overall i think the move to lower emissions is moving fine, base load is where there needs to be major work done, china putting in 200 coal plants so it has the edge on cheap electricity seems to escape the heat all the time because people like there cheap goods...rarely talked about.

Recyclebility of goods made is also overlooked and consumption, Germany is the biggest fraud in this area because they need to mass produce cars for there economy...

Plastics is also another area no one wants to tackle unless its a shopping bag at supermarrket.

Mobile phone consumption is record year on year, no one talks about the mining of these goods especially the rare earths, theres a reason there called rare.

Unfortunately alot of the grandstanding about climate change solutions is not going to lead to any adjustments in temps imo, because the hard issues will not be tackled.

I’ve far from well read on most of those issues, especially mining.

But I do know there’s quite a lot of research, and successes, around making canola oil into biodegradable plastic. They even managed to do it with the straw https://www.albertafarmexpress.ca/2...o-fridge-making-cling-wrap-from-canola-straw/

Yeah canola is a ghastly monocrop but it’s oil is not only being sourced by countries like Japan as a potential energy source, but it can be made into biodegradable plastics. It’s hard to hate it.... just don’t eat much of it :ROFLMAO:

It’s biodegradable....

The entire point of that is if it ends up in the trash it doesn’t take thousands of years to break down. While it probably could be melted back down and recycled that way, biodegradable stuff is kind of so people don’t have to recycle. Since most people don’t bother to anyway.
