Don’t help enough for lots of women.

There’s been times I’ve tied scarves tight and that’s made it manageable  Less helpful in summer though.

So - Greg Hill came out here first thing, found the leak, found the hose, removed the hose, repaired it & got it going again. About 6 hours work all up.

Ran out of engine oil at 8.00pm ( has a leaking crankcase seal that I got quoted a fortune to fix ), none on hand, had to run into town & get some from a servo. Another hour or more lost.

11.00pm, did a front tyre ( $3000 last time I replaced one about 3 years ago )
Needless to say, everything has conspired against me finishing this job before it rains. This week was meant to be catching up on all the farm sh!t before starting Council on Monday
Suffice to say - I’m a bit f**king over it . . .

Are tyres expensive in Australia?
That seems expensive to me you could probably get a pair of new ones for that here let alone 1.

thinking about it, that $3K might have been for a pair, but it was 3 or 4 yrs ago & I couldn’t be arsed looking back to find out, tbh.
However, a quick google finds this, before ringing my tyre dealer

but yes, tyres ARE expensive here, along with most machinery, utes & tractors.
The thing is, when you are contracting, planting a crop for someone else, or even just doing your own planting, you dont have the luxury of shopping around for the cheapest tyre or taking your time. Its just get it fixed as quickly as possible, as its a time critical operation . . .

admittedly a long time ago now, but I was working on a farm locally here in my mid 20’s, we were running a Versatile articulated 4wd tractor of about 345 hp, on duals ( so 8 tyres, on 38” rims I think ), as the main farming tractor. It was about 5 years old & needed a new set of boots. They ended up trading it in on a brand new equivalent size Versatile for about what it would have cost to put new tyres on the old girl . . .
I clearly remember the discussion with the boss at the time

thinking about it, i replaced both front tyres on my 8970 Genesis not long before I traded it , so that must have been prior to 2009 & that cost about $3K
I damaged ( hit a rock & tore the sidewall out, while contracting, planting canola ) a front on the T8040 about 3 years ago & it was nearly $3K for one tyre, which is why I didnt replace the other ( the one I did last night ), even though it was quite worn in comparison to the new one . . .
