Don’t worry. It was an idle threat. He was back before we had a chance to blink!
Too much fan mail - TBH the alerts changed my mind.
For all those who messaged (and all the other support too) thanks (y)

I didn't know I actually made a difference to any of you, was a bit like listening to my own funeral ..

Yeah, mate.
It will be because of those "hackers" most likely.
To them, I still have this to say:

Anyway, on to more jolly matters...

Had 15mm of rain on our pasture trial site last weekend. These were taken 3 days later...

Amazing what a bit of rain will do. The Lucerne has thrown new shoots after I cut down the old growth the week before. The regen Cavalier spineless burr Medic has germinated like mad, as have the other clovers and medics, and the worms have woken up and are hard at work.

However if we don’t get a few showers now in the next week/10 days, all that newly germinated medic and clover will be buggered!:nailbiting: This is mirrored in every pasture paddock in the area. It’s 30 degs here at the moment!

yeah, its amazing how quickly that lighter soil responds to any small amounts of rainfall

whats the general mood of croppers there, still optimistic about planting a winter crop or are they thinking it may not happen ?

An awefull lot of seed, both pasture and broadacre, along with pre-ems went out the door this week and there’s a lot more packed up to go next week. As it stands most will start seeding on ANZAC day regardless.

Yes, now in its third season and all regen seed. It’s gone gang busters each year. Really pleased with it!

a number of medics, barrel & burr in particular, are naturalised here now. The actual 'burr' curly seed part lying on the ground has kept many a sheep alive in arid areas . . .
a bit like yellow vine, great for keeping sheep alive in a drought when nothing else is growing

Yep, great little plant. Very versatile. Doesn’t like it on our more acid Hill country though, but down on the more alkaline soils it’s a real mainstay.
