Possibly whoever was right in saying so?

Who could say now, the commonwealth certainly didn't hang around waiting forever to see.

Having a moan is cost effective but that is the limit of its effectiveness, I don't mind having my decision to adopt a very low-input system criticised by anyone, as my reasons are relevant - I can back up the "why".
I'm also not going to attempt to shift blame for my failures on Roger Douglas, Maggie Thatcher, my current weather, or tyrannosaurus rex... my failures are my own, as that's what I can learn from - I don't believe in "the best of 9 attempts" or someone kissing it better for me

I do feel close to sympathy for the slower learners, with delusions of adequacy, but they aren't British sheep farmers, they are everywhere and in every job - and can be trained to be adequate employees with a bit of patience.

My point is, some of them are training themselves to be just that. Adequate.
but we have a lot people who have seen the UK farm shop ,and they have taken it to the internet .
country calander has had a few lately, they all seem to have worked over seas and then come home to the family farm, so they must have seen some thing they liked overseas.
i want to know how they are making the killing process work with our rules around meat sales

I know how I get around it - but it wouldn't work for most.
Sell them the lamb, cash up front, then butcher it "for free" which is of course part of the reason they paid double for their lamb, which arrives at its new home in a box. It's one of those loopholes they haven't closed yet, bit more difficult with cattle and NAIT but for all I do my losses are still acceptable enough, apparently.
I really couldn't be biffed with a farm shop unless I had a heap of spare time to devote to sitting around, I'd be better off buying the local backpackers if that was the case.

I do run "farm tours" but that is purely a word of mouth arrangement, because I do like seeing the joy on faces when you can foster that connection between the land and the people and the food - it means my direct sales are very much below the radar.... til now.

Had nearly an inch:woot: biggest single rain event since November last year:rolleyes:
Cracker (y)
Been a few good showers here too... probably an inch over the weekend... currently the wind would be taking most of it away.

First load of stock this morning, and the wind lifted the wooden bottom of the loading ramp clean out and over the fence.
Second attempt the wind blew the race over so I strapped that to the crate
Third attempt I got lucky

Then the farmer showed up just as I was sliding the door shut, "sorry mate, I slept in a bit, isn't this wind an arsehole?" FFS

Would blow the milk out of your tea, here.

⚠️ PSA ⚠️

If you're planning on storing canola hay this season you might want to keep a crow bar handy!

Hay industry guru Colin Peace says spontaneous combustion could be an issue for growers as the weather heats up.

...
"Growers will need to put a crow bar into the middle of their hay a week or two after baling to check if it's heating up. If they don't keep an eye on it they could be in strife," he says.
