Thames Valley Police officer killed in Berkshire https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-49368649

Far from you @holwellcourtfarm ?

10 men between 13 and 30 arrested. As much as I hate to admit it, my first thought was that it suggests a certain group of nomadic, caravan dwelling types. One mustn’t jump to conclusions of course, but...

It seems your first thought was correct.

Read a report this morning talking about arrests at a council owned site a few miles away, within an hour of it happening. Oh and a car was torched too...

Dragged along a lane until the car turned at the junction, when he was released from the car and may have been hit by another oncoming vehicle...Poor barsteward.

Que a predictable response from opposition MPs about Tory Cuts and their effect on the effectiveness of our policing. They may have a point, but if a large section of society knew the difference between right and wrong, with some almost assisted by well meaning Liberal types in carrying out their wrongness, the police wouldn't be having to deal with half the sh!t they do anyway.

You can't believe the depths some of these pansys will stoop to, to make political capital out of a tragic event like this.

One site dweller even commented that she "didn't know why so many had to be arrested, they can't all have been involved"...

He's going to live in his empty shed with his telehandler. :)
All jokes aside, there is a family not too far from here who live in a converted grain silo - it's fully insulated and multi storey inside, IIRC 5 floors.. the wall cavities have been created by erecting a slightly smaller diameter silo inside the orginal, and the space filled with wool!

Those "Quaker Barn" type of buildings always spun my wheels as being a great cheap structure to "convert" into housing, 'without looking like you live in a shed' .

Probably actually one of the cheaper structures to erect as none of the roof sheets are oversize, and of course being open span would make it easy to build a comfortable home inside it. You'd need the right climate for it to really work?
