I found this rather amusing.
I meant undies/jocks/shorts though.

How it was....worked. The SA government saw an opportunity for a water grab though during the last drought under the guise of "saving the river" (plenty of water goes down EVERY YEAR. ). They have fudged reports that proved the lower lakes were historically esterine and not continuously fresh. They also had there own royal commission into the basin which was critical of everyone except there own management...now the feds are rejecting calls for a federal royal commission as they claim it is a waste of money as it wont find anything different to the SA report. There is also NO accounting of water by the Murray Darling Basin Authority when it crosses the border into SA. They say they rely on the SA government for data beyond the state border. Last xmas whilst we languished on 0% , they held there yachting regatta on a full level in the lakes....even though the mdba had requested that they open gates to the ramsar listed coorong to supply environmental flows.....Anyone that is interested....look on your phone at Google maps where Gawler is.. look closely at hindmarsh island.....its behind artificial man made barrages....the island is one giant marina with SA's elites multi million dollar properties.....tell me it's all about the environment...its all political.

You mean Goolwa, not Gawler.
Gawler in is the Barossa.

Where Roy is cotton is king. Most people down here bemoan flood plain harvesting in northern NSW for irrigated cotton as the reason the Darling river is in the state it is AND as to why NSW Murray irrigators are suffering (both rivers are inter linked and supply SA water needs/wants.....) I call bullshìt on this as they too have a right to capture and save water. They too only grow crops when they have water. I see it as no different to the rice industry here. For years the South Australians have whinged that rice growers use all the water....but they only grow a crop proportionate to the water that is available to them. No water, no rice, simple.
But, the unabated superannuation fund / large corporate ag schemes that have set up massive almond groves down stream, using more water than the 1200 farm businesses every year where we farm is criminal. These trees aren't mature yet. They will need more water going forward (up to 18megs/ha) yet the SA people whinge about rice using 12megs...What they use every year now. Is more than a 100% allocation for us 1200 businesses. And they need that every year.....
“But, the unabated superannuation fund / large corporate ag schemes that have set up massive almond groves...”
There’s your answer and there’s
our collective future: Unlike rich people whose money gets spread out , even lost, when they die ,corporations rarely die, continuously grow and yet have the same rights as people before the law, especially now with globalisation. The whole vegan meat and milk thing is part of their strategy to get a larger share of ag dollars. Governments around the world are only too happy to oblige these large corporations. Why? the benefits are usually so short lived: 20 years ago a huge pork company wanted to set up a barn nearby for thousands of pigs- the P.R . people invited the town council for a BBQ , were very friendly , and the council thought they were great guys .When the corporation applied for a permit to build a mega barn it was immediatelyapproved without any discussion. The whole region went bonkers and a large group of citizens spent alot of time fighting this decision: there were meetings, petitions, lawyers hired, to no avail( there was such a stink (!) over this that Quebec placed a 5 year moratorium on the granting of permits for mega pork barn, but that’s a different story.) The barn was built, the farmer’s wife left him quite soon , he went bankrupt and lost all the land, but the large corporation kept the barn and the acre or two it was on . They always seem to win. The town council didn’t enjoy their position for long either. Everyone was voted out and replaced .

No, he was commenting on the land he sees traveling around in the course of his work. No rain. Dry. Dead. His use of the word “country” was a reference to the countryside. His use of the word “fûcked” was a reference to that land being unproductive due to drought.

I’m not sure even your towering intellect is able to interpret a conversation you were not privy to.
Well sorry, but one could be forgiven he wss meaning in a finacial sense as where i live the "country" is far from fuccked.

Weather certainly does shift, u can see that referenced in the bible what the iraqi region was once like, Mesopotamia.

Central Australia was an inland ocean.

Question is in past did it move quick or gradually? Geological data may suggest slowly but that doesnt mean there werent accelerated periods.

Even in oz with only 200 years of history, its hard to determine "normal"

Lets hope the heavens open soon, we got winter rain in Clermont, usually get a wet summer after that so will see.

The cattle weighed heavier than i thought so that's a nice surprise.

The fudge ups with tailings dams are not two in the last twenty years.
Mining should be safe, should be expensive. What is right about producing stuff at the cheapest price possible and dam the consequences. At this point I should probably NOT say - "oh sorry, you're a farmer this doesn't make sense" but this is not like the rest of TFF.
Mining should be expensive and so should farming.

You can have two of cheap good or quick, but not all three.
Two tailings dam f ups in news, ypu dont see the daily environmental breaches that are reportable, so i can tell you for sure that there are concerns and incidents with tailings dams very regularly.

Mining should be expensive but my point is you can do it cheaper in certain regions because of quick approval and less environmental considerations.
