That is a very affluent area and it has an illegal gypsy site right on that lane. Maybe they are trying to hide them.
Even the gypsies are on the posh end of the scale, lots of big expensive caravans on site, nothing poverty spec and they are apparently razzing up and down the road in a Audi R8.
Area is so posh it has a Bentley garage just round the corner.

If it was Tatton Park that did it I expect it was grant funded anyway.

A tornado went up that lane a couple of years ago, I wasn't there but could tell from all the branches twisted off the oak trees. Looked it up and sure enough, think someone got hurt at the cricket club iirc.

I've probably gone close to that many trees here and will be planting more on new farm eventually.

No Grant's for me. (I read somewhere the feds ARE looking at paying farmers for planting around 5 ha or more..) I just do it for the shade and windbreak shelter it offers the stock and for the aesthetics of a farm WITH trees on it. Plus I think it adds value to the farm if and when it comes time to sell.

Others probably see them as nuisances as they do suck the guts out of the land near them..

My plantings are all strategic along fence lines and edges of drains and the like. So dont qualify for any funding as they are generally only 1 to 3 rows wide at most.

No real surprises there... if you stop to consider that more than 20% of total CO² comes from soil respiration in terrestrial ecosystems (biological activity in the rhizosphere) then obviously putting that bit on top is going to do more than just dry out

just as well the vast majority don't stop to consider much other than themself
