Farmers and ppi

Between 1975 and 1995, I financed quite a lot of tractors and machinery with leases, and in one case, an HP agreement for a tractor, all from Humberclyde. I have no idea if any ppi was included in the arrangements, the paperwork was chucked when I moved house, and I don't think that the company exists anymore.

Any ideas, anyone?

Have a chat with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) , they should be able to help you , very helpful .

From what I read on Money Saving Expert site, the whole thing with loans etc is that a type of life or credit assurance was tacked on whether you knew it or not.

A life assurance policy is just that. But could be wrong.
That is the impression I got, basically it seems any sort of borrowing from the 1980's onwards had it tacked on and they are paying up on everything

Good thread this , we are unfortunatly cleaning out my parents old house due to surrendering it to the landlord , I do have a wife who is a treasurer and will be looking through old paper work some of which will be from Humberclyde to see what's what , if we do find anything I will let you know

How far back .was 18 years ago

I phoned the 'complaints' dept this morning. Strange system. Mine wasn't a complaint at all. Just an enquiry, but hey!
Anyway all details taken. Lloyds can track back to Lloyds TSB and beyond and also, when I find the paperwork, to AMC for loans.

Originally OH traded as a sole trader, and only that person can deal with communications unless a letter of authorisation is lodged do that I can do it. You also have to give a reason why you think you may qualify, and what prompted you to enquire. So TFF was duly logged. :)

On a mission now to find lease hire stuff and previous bank / mortgage provider. I shall go back as far as I can. I noticed BOCM was mentioned on that website and we had a loan from them, to buy milk quota when the bank was dragging its feet. Onwards and upwards. They can always say no.
Prior to 2001, apparently you may need more paperwork.

I didn't realise that the likes of Humberclyde would be eligible, as we too had machinery financed with them and other finance companies. Does it matter if it was a personal loan or via a business partnership?
