Can't say it's much of a surprise there is no word on when balance of 2016 payments will be made.
Was pretty obvious when they offered everyone 80% of it as a loan payment at the earliest opportunity that it was a damage limitation excercise because there wasn't a cats chance in hell of them being able to process them any earlier than last year.

Hopefully next year will be better. Let just about everyone that applied for AECS last time around and slashed the payments rates for next round so next to no one will be applying for that anymore so that should cut the workload a bit.

I might be a bit cynical, but is the Lfass paid out direct from the Scottish government coffers.
Whereas the Bps money comes from Europe.

If that is the case it is very much the Scottish government trying to keep hold of the money till the very last minute  (well longer than the last minute, at least 12 months late (n))

Good article from Scottish Farmer here by Jim Walker. NFU 'round the twist with the government.

What really galls me is listening to that eejit on the news tonight saying the UK had better not try to take back power over Scottish agriculture, because Scottish farmers need Holyrood to look after them and get the best for them.

Is she actually deranged??? She is clearly unhinged to think that she I doing a good job.I think she actually must have some sort of mental illness to be saying the things she does, when clearly they do not in any measure reflect reality.

I was just thinking about this today- every week that goes past and this whole mess rumbles on (keep looking our online bank account for anything coming in and an expensive time of year o_O).

Fergus Ewing spoke at TFA agm giving assurances that balance on payments and money owed by scottish government was on its way very soon- well that was the middle of feb -:wideyed: nothing yet.

How can they run a country bumbling on like this- remind me how many millions did they waste on the computer system.?!!

These are the same people who actually want to govern an independent country, they are not able to deliver something as simple as a farm payments system I shudder to think what kind of shambles the country would be in if they were given any more power.:eek:

Woohoo. Just checked the account and I have received the princely sum of £XX.08.

Checked the website and impossible to tell what it is so I suppose it is the balance of the 2016 SAF?

They were supposed to be paying out another 10% off the BPS leaving 10% still to pay so that is probably what that payment is,it really is getting farcical.:banghead:

Is defra doing a better job? I think not.
It was brussels that foisted this ludicrous new CAP on us, with landlords allowed to claim the area payment and fields correct to 3decimal places, not scotgov

@glasshouse, not disputing the details of CAP and don't know much about defra, just p*ssed off to the max that the Scottish government can't seem to make payments on time, in fact for some farmers, even in the correct year. Year after year. And they seem to think that that's okay really.

I feel sorry for the people on the front line trying to make this mess work and get these payments out. I know for a fact that some are sick to the back teeth of the way things have been, and continue to be, going. And like me, don't understand why a new computer system was required, nor why it is still not working after 2 years and way over budget.

There now appears to be some overtime being put in on the payments. I received 3 update notifications on Saturday regarding verification of my beef calf claims.

I do agree about Brussels. The whole sheep tagging fiasco years ago demonstrated that we have different circumstances in agriculture here.

Hmm, just had a look at our 2015 payment history, and it's been re-checked for the 8th time 2 weeks ago :scratchhead:

Got a letter today to sign up for the LFASS "loan" scheme. It said, to quote "we are not in a position to say when the 2016 payments will be made." Contrary to the BS spouted by Mr. Ewing in the above press release @scholland.

The incompetency of these idiots just leaves me speechless.

Rant all you want, but for goodness sake campaign to keep control of Scottish payments in Scotland.

Westminster obviously want centralised control, doing away with the devolved Scottish, Welsh and northern Irish governments.

You've already said that the sheep tagging lunacy demonstrates that we have a different agricultural scenario here. Can you imagine how screwed we'll be if Defra get control?

I disagree, ScotGov have turned everything they've touched to cack.

I'm not saying DEFRA is any better, but at least we'll be on the same page as the rest of the UK, not floundering around in the drivel from some SNP jobsworth. If RPID had been able to find its erse with both hands, then I would run a mile from DEFRA. But sadly that is not the case.

If the UK has to derive trade agreements with the rest of the world then it's best done swiftly and efficiently. If Scotland's position was left to the 'Shortbread Senate' to debate we would never achieve a consensus, as Sturgeon would doom it to failure just so she could blame 'The Tories'.

Lets pull the chain, and start again.
